It's been one month now since the people of Maharashtra had cased their votes with the mandate to form the new government and legislative in India's richest state but they couldn't have imagined that their votes will direct the political drama, heated accusations, and uncertainty between the national and state political parties in staking a claim to form the government and the boxing of the leaders in attaining unanimity in forming the alliance, after no party had reached the majority mark, had inducted the state with the presidential rule after the parties failed to show majority within the deadline fixed by the State Governor.
Since the election results were declared, the state has been staging mega drama in the tale of forming the government and dividing the powers. The regional party of the state Shiv Sena, which observed the strong alliance for the past three decades with the BJP led NDA in the state that continued in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, was the first to lit the fire in the state by cracking down the ties with BJP after accusing the national party on declining to share the Chief Minister's post which certainly had diminished the light for BJP to retain the power in the state for second consecutive time despite being the largest party in the state by acquiring more seats.
In the state legislative elections, BJP and Shiv Sena allied together to face the elections and the alliance had managed to sweep 105 and 56 seats respectively in 288 member assembly that had comfortably provided the BJP to stake a claim to form new government where the sources had revealed that the BJP and Shiv Sena had consented to share the post of Chief Minister but it had odd developments to present after Shiv Sena had broken the ties with BJP by alleging the party in declining to share the Chief Minister's post.
After having no single-party majority, the important parties which were on the ballot, BJP, Congress, Shiv Sena, and Nationalist Congress party had approached the Governor separately to form the government but by having no concrete majority and after the parties failed to disclose the majority mark in the deadline, the State Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had earlier this month, recommended the Central government to impose Presidential rule in the state after which the Union cabinet approved the recommendation and mapped the state under the rule of the President.
With very keen in acquiring the Chief Minister post, Shiv Sena had tabled the negotiations with the Congress Party to form an alliance by compromising its agenda and policies against the Congress party and the uncertain duo had fished Nationalist Congress Party into their ship to form a tri-party alliance and the government in the state. After having the mixtures of heated and aberrant developments and negotiations between the trio, the sources had revealed that the mega drama would likely to end after the parties shown that they have entered the final phase of negotiations on the common minimum programme to showcase their unanimity.
It has been expected that Shiv Sena party's supremo Uddhav Thackeray would be swearing-in as the Chief Minister and NCP's Ajit Pawar and Congress Thorat would be assuming office as Deputy Chief Ministers. The reports say that the Congress leaders Ahmed Patel, Mallikarjun Khadge and KC Venugopal would be tabling discussions with the NCP and Shiv Sena to give a final touch to form a tri-party government in Maharashtra, as India's richest state has been predicted to shape the majority government very soon.
