Vijay Sethupathi has on Tuesday made a massive announcement of asserting that his upcoming movie 'Laabam' will be released on big screens and the actor has negated the rumors and speculations that the movie would be released on the OTT platforms by skipping the theaters.
The announcement has become his bid to dispel the rumors that were widespread causing baffle among his fans and his assertion has poured a huge relief to his fans, who are awaiting to welcome relishing new year as they would be watching 'Master' and 'Laabam' on the big screens. Vijay Sethupathi took to Twitter and said, "Socio-political thriller Laabam, its not a direct OTT premiere, it will have a big theatrical release".
'Laabam' is directed by 'Peraanmai' fame SP Jhananathan and the movie has brought Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan together for the first time. While the movie is jointly produced by Vijay Sethupathi and Arumugakumar, D Imman has composed music. Laabam is a story based on agriculture and the film's shooting is expected to get completed soon following which it would be slated for release.
Arumugakumar's 7CS Entertainment had previously produced 'Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren' while Vijay Sethupathi Productions had bankrolled 'Merku Thodarchi Malai', which has got a decent reception. Laabam is the second project for Vijay Sethupathi with Jhananathan as the duo had previously worked together in 'Purampoku', which also starred Arya.
Shruti Haasan makes a comeback in Tamil after three years through Laabam as she was last seen in Suriya's 'Singam 3'. While the movie is largely completed, it was recently speculated that Laabam would be getting released on OTT platforms and rumors were doing rounds across social media suggesting that the movie team has been approached by an OTT platform to exclusively release the movie and Vijay Sethupathi's movie had seen similar episodes what Vijay's 'Master' had gone through over its release.
As there were widespread rumors, Vijay Sethupathi took to Twitter on Tuesday and dispelled such hearsays by making a major announcement that 'Laabam' will only be released in theaters and it will have a big theatrical release, which had relished his fans. Vijay Sethupathi has done shooting for 'Master' and currently awaits its release. Master is starred by Thalapathy Vijay and it has been believed that Vijay Sethupathi will be playing as the antagonist against Vijay in the movie.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Master brings Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi together for the first time. While Master went through rounds of speculations that the movie is getting released on the OTT platform, the movie team had recently made it clear that they prefer the theatrical release for Master and it has been expected that 'Master' will get released in theaters during Pongal 2021, in the second week of January.
Vijay Sethupathi was lastly seen in 'Ka Pae Ranasingam' and the movie was released directly on Zeeplex OTT on October 2. Becoming the first Indian movie to get released based on the system of pay-per-view, the movie has got a decent reception. However, on the other hand, the movie was pirated and released on the piracy sites barely two hours after the release, which shocked the actor and the whole team.
Ka Pae Ranasingam has Vijay Sethupathi playing a cameo appearance while Aishwarya Rajesh playing the female lead. Following Laabam, Vijay Sethupathi has many projects in his kitty including 'Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal' and the movie would be directed by Vignesh Shivn.
