Though love is perennial and ever-lasting, it cannot be equal in most of the cases and times, and in such cases, the un-equal love rather would be defined in a particular form of how people get connected to each other. In one form or the other, some people love what others hate and it would be in reverse in other cases. In our lifetime, there would be some rare personalities and phenomenal people who the hate hates to hate, who would be the haven for love, hope, and happiness.
One such rarest 'Ratna' that the country is gifted to have is Former Indian President Bharat Ratna Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam. He is the man loved by everyone under the sun and moon. Why he was loved and what's the magic behind it? Because he gave love, dignity, respect, and sacrifice for the country, particularly for younger generations. Dr.Kalam is not magic but a force that connected everyone regardless of their identity. From his first breath to his last, he got inculcated with a vision, he walked for his vision, reminded his vision, and he inculcated the vision on everyone, and now we remember his vision of shaping the country of how it should be.
Dr.Kalam is the rarest human being as he fitted into every mould. His life is a better example of showing how to shape our own destiny successfully if life has something different to offer than what we aimed. When he was born in the coastal island of Rameswaram, their parents never thought their child is going to be a 'Ratna' one day and when Dr.Kalam was pursuing aeronautical engineering, he neither thought that the nation's highest office is going to be prouder in future in welcoming him nor he had such an aim.
In whatever he did, he did it with unequivocal hard work, interminable devotion, and uncompromised perseverance. Come what may, he kept his path shining that later shaped him as the man of versatility. He was known as an educationalist, engineer, scientist, missile man, and people's president as in all walks of his life, he kept one thing clear, 'never give up'. He strongly believed that 'the only thing that's stopping you is you'.
Dr. Kalam went undefeatable by the defeat. When he was working as a professor at Anna University, Chennai, he got a call from Delhi. He was named as a successor of outgoing President KR Narayanan. He went to Delhi by carrying simplicity, love, and hope as his friends, sworn in as India's 11th President, and decorated Rashtrapathi Bhavan. He took it as the opportunity to inculcate younger generations from the heart of the government's mechanism.
As the first citizen of the country, he came forward and spoken about his vision for India 2020. Being a visionary, he has had a much larger vision that any of his predecessors for his country, and he started speaking with young students across the country as their teacher and spread his vision and asking them to dream big. That was, in fact, the first time when the nation largely spoke about dreaming big and Kalam's success in inculcating the vision was due to his true love, devotion, and sacrifice for the people and nation.
When he vacated office in 2007, he has come inside of everyone's heart and he still lives there and will live for many more decades. The Presidency was honored to have him in Rashtrapati Bhavan. He dreamt big for his nation and the birth of India's advanced ballistic missile, launch vehicle technology, and India's most important Pokhran-II nuclear tests were the output of his dream and vision.
When he vacated Rashtrapati Bhavan, one of the staff members of the palatial palace said that 'He was a nice human being. He always treated us like his own people. We will certainly miss him'. For the presidential palace, Dr. Kalam always remained and remain as the man of change, and for the nation, he remains as the haven for hope with everlasting vision and innovation of building his nation to great heights.
One of the most important traits of Dr.Kalam is - be ready for every time and everything. One of his college mates Sujatha - (yes, reputed Tamil Writer Rangarajan - who was known as Sujatha, was the classmate of Dr.Kalam), once said in his writings that, 'Kalam and I plan to write a book together. He said we could do one on India's rocket science since the times of Tipu Sultan. 'I'm ready, Kalam. Are you? I would ask him. 'I am almost ready. Let us start next month', he would say every time'.
Apart from the President, Kalam has authored several books of taking his life to everyone. He has written mostly to inspire and spark the vision in the students and young generations as he strongly believed the younger generations have the potential in building the nation strong. His lives can be separated 'with students and without students' as Kalam has kept himself close to the students.
He was a great orator and a lecturer for the students and his life being with students came to end being with students. On July 27, 2015, Dr.Kalam was delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Shillong during which he stumbled on stage and was taken to the hospital. Later, he was declared dead due to cardiac arrest at the age of 83 (1931-2015).
Today, July 27, 2020, is his fifth death anniversary as it has been five years since the world saw the demise of a 'Ratna'. For Kalam, the honor as the President of India came later as he was bestowed with three highest civilian honors of India before being elected as the President -Bharat Ratna (1997), Padma Vibhushan (1990), Padma Bhushan (1981). However, Dr.Kalam is left with one thing to decorate and that's seeing his people filled with love, hope, peace, and success and seeing his country go big as he wished.

For people, he is the man of change, the haven of hope, and a slayer of sorrow and cynicism. His life was driven with challenges and his paths were etched with barriers and he leaped forward with audacity and hope and made his life as a treasure that belongs to everyone. He won his life and it's up to us to make him win in his vision. Though Dr. Kalam went to the interminable sleep, he is alive and lives and will forever live in people's hearts as the people's president.
