Mamata Banerjee is in hospital...How is she doing now and when she will be discharged?

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been hospitalized in Kolkata after sustaining injuries from what she alleged was an attack against her as the sequel of the conspiracy. In what had become a shocking development, the Chief Minister said that she was injured after being attacked by some people during her campaign trail in Nandigram, the constituency where she will be contesting in the upcoming assembly polls. 

The incident had happened on Wednesday when Banerjee was standing outside a temple in the Reyapara area and it has happened hours after she filed her nomination to contest from the Nandigram constituency. The Chief of Trinamool Congress (TMC) said, "I was standing outside my car with the door open. I was going to a temple there to offer prayers. Few people came near to my car and pushed the door and the door hit my leg". 

Addressing the reporters, she said that there was no police personnel present at the spot when the incident had happened and further added that her leg has got swollen due to the injury and she also had developed a fever. 

Following the incident, she had returned to Kolkata and was admitted to the state-run SSKM Hospital for further treatments. The visuals had shown she was carried by her security guards and placed on a stretcher and moved into the hospital. A team of five senior doctors has been monitoring her health and it was said that she has to be under observation for at least 48 hours. Earlier, speaking to PTI, the doctors said that Mamata had complained of chest pain and breathlessness since the attack. 

The Chief Minister continues to receive treatment in the hospital and concerning her health condition and discharge, the doctors have on Thursday evening said that Mamata Banerjee is stable and her condition has improved slightly. The doctors informed that Banerjee is responding to treatment and the test results were satisfactory. A senior doctor said, "The X-Ray done on her left leg showed a degenerative joint disease. We are treating that disease". She had severe bone injuries in her left ankle and foot, besides injuries in her right shoulder, forearm, and neck. 

The doctors had also done an X-Ray on her shoulders, injured ankle, and legs. A doctor said, "The swelling on her left ankle has subsided. Overall, her condition has improved slightly and the Chief Minister was given light food". Responding to when she will be discharged, the doctors that they would access her health condition on Friday after which they will decide when she can be discharged. The reports say that the doctors had conducted another series of medical seats on Friday morning and it has been expected that she will be getting discharged on Friday evening or on Saturday.
