The demand to make Udhayanidhi Stalin a minister in his father MK Stalin's cabinet grows louder in Tamil Nadu, which have been in a fashion of testing MK Stalin's mind over politically elevating his son. While there have been speculations that Udhayanidhi Stalin, who currently is an MLA of Chepauk-Triplicane, will be made the minister around next June after Stalin's first anniversary as the Chief Minister, the demands suggest that he may be inducted into the cabinet sooner, possibly after the urban local body polls.
The vital voice behind this demand is Udhayanidhi Stalin's friend Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, who is currently serving as the Tamil Nadu Minister for School Education. Anbil Mahesh is batting his demand seemingly on every favourable pitch and he has reiterated his voice for his friend to have him as a cabinet colleague for the second time in a month. He had earlier made such demand on Udhayanidhi Stalin's birthday claiming that the latter's dedication to serving the people shouldn't get contained to a particular constituency.
Now, for the second time, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has publicly appealed for the elevation of Udhayanidhi Stalin as a minister. While addressing at a function on Tuesday, Poyyamozhi echoed his demand to elevate Stalin junior and said that it is the desire of the people to see Udhayanidhi Stalin as a minister. Powering the demand, senior DMK leader and Minister for Municipal Administration KN Nehru had also shot his ball on MK Stalin's court to make his son a minister.
Nehru went on to cite that the Chepauk MLA deserves to become a minister. In an interview with a private news channel, Nehru said that Udhayanidhi Stalin has the potential to become a minister. What was speculated to happen around next June is expected to happen sooner as the sequel of these demands and the reports say that though only two ministers were outspoken about the demand, it also exists among the youth wing leaders of the DMK.
While the DMK ministers want to see Udhayanidhi Stalin as a minister, a Congress leader went a step ahead and wrote to MK Stalin to appoint his son as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Earlier this week, RS Rajan, the general secretary of the agricultural wing of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, has written to Chief Minister MK Stalin in which he had recommended the latter to provide the post of Deputy Chief Minister to Udhayanidhi Stalin.
A letter from a Congress leader advocating for Udhayanidhi Stalin has come when there has been a voice of dissents over DMK- Congress alliance after the state ruling party's flawed approach towards the national party during the time of rural local body elections and that dissents may go high in the upcoming urban local body polls. As these demands have implied that Udhayanidhi Stalin would begin his innings in the government soon, he may win an important portfolio and the reports have suggested that either local administration or public works would be allotted to Udhayanidhi Stalin.
Our sources have said that Udhayanidhi's elevation has been under making for the past few months and Stalin's close circle, including his family members, have demanded Udhayanidhi's induction into the direct governance. As he is also busy in his career in the cinema industry, there are talks that Tamil Nadu may see him as a Minister around next May or June, after MK Stalin's one year in the office. Being an incumbent DMK Secretary for its Youth wing, Udhayanidhi is in his father's footsteps, which displays that the DMK has been glued with heir politics.
