In a major shock, veteran actress and BJP leader Khushbu Sundar had faced an ordeal after her official Twitter handle was hacked after the account was infiltrated by the miscreants. After knowing that her account was hacked, the actress-turned-politician had approached the Office of the Director-General of Police in Chennai and filed a complaint against the hacking.
The hackers had on Tuesday changed the name and display picture of her Twitter handle and began tweeting without her knowledge. The hackers had tweeted #FreeIndia from her handle and Khushbu has said that the tweets posted in her account in the last few days were not by her. The reports say that the hackers had changed the name of the account to 'Briann' and replaced the display picture and cover image with animated cartoons.
The hackers had also deleted some of her tweets. In a statement, the actress said, "I would like to let you know that my Twitter account @khushsundar was hacked three days ago. We have been trying to follow up with the Twitter administration office regarding this matter. Any activity or tweet done from this account in the last few days was not by me." She took to Instagram and asserted that she is yet to get a response from the Twitter administration.
She wrote, "My Twitter account is hacked. I have not been accessible to my account for the last 3 days. Raised the issue with Twitter but unfortunately, they are yet to respond. This morning, the username and dp were changed. Someone called Brianne is using my account now. If you see any activity from my account in the last 3 days and further herewith, till I regain the account, please understand it is not me. Hoping the issue will be solved soon. Meeting DGP Shylendra Babu ji today noon and giving a formal complaint. Thank you for your support, as always."
Following her Instagram statement, Khushbu had met with DGP Sylendra Babu and given a formal complaint against the hackers. She had expressed fears of misuse of her Twitter account and after meeting the DGP, the veteran actress told the reporters that the name of her Twitter handle has been changed and she could not access her account. According to reports, three tweets were posted from her account in the last 24 hours including the tweets with the hashtags #FreeIndia and #FreePalestine.
It must be noted that Khushbu's account was hacked previously in April 2020 and she used her Instagram account and announced that her Twitter handle was hacked. The account was later restored. Khushbu, who was with the Congress party during last year, has joined the BJP and became one of the spokespersons of the Central ruling party. Khushbu had also contested in the 2021 Tamil Nadu assembly polls in the BJP's ticket in Thousand Lights, Chennai. However, she had conceded the defeat to DMK's candidate Ezhilan.
