Senior Tamil Nadu BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan has now been given a new assignment after she was elevated to the national post. The development of roping the state leader to national politics has come at a high time when the state of Tamil Nadu is just months away from the legislative assembly polls. 

On Wednesday, BJP had issued a statement in which it said that National President JP Nadda has appointed Vanathi Srinivasan as the President of the party's national women's wing - BJP Mahila Morcha. According to reports, being appointed as the Chief of Mahila Morcha, Vanathi Srinivasan would be replacing Vijaya Rahatkar. 

Vanathi Srinivasan was serving as the vice-president of the Tamil Nadu BJP unit and she has been one of the key leaders of the party. Being an advocate by profession, Vanathi Srinivasan had been one of the power centers in the party at the state level and her elevation to the national politics had gained major attention across the state and among the state political leaders. 

According to reports close to the developments, the appointment has come at a high time when the state unit wasn't given any national-level representation when the party had recently announced the list of new national office bearers that included the names of new general secretaries, national secretaries, and presidents of various units. 

In the list of new office bearers, the Tamil Nadu BJP leaders were shocked to learn that there was no representation and the party had also removed senior leader H Raja from the list of national secretaries. Amid such development, the party has now announced the appointment of the Tamil Nadu leader to the national level post and the announcement has been welcomed by the leaders of the state BJP unit. 

According to the statement issued by the BJP, the appointment has come into effect immediately as Vanathi Srinivasan, being a decades-old state politician, would now be starting her national politics. Her predecessor Vijaya Rahatkar was recently appointed as the National Secretary of BJP and Vanathi Srinivasan is now replacing her by becoming the new Chief of BJP Mahila Morcha.

Taking to Twitter, newly appointed President of Mahila Morcha Vanathi Srinivasan said, "Humbled, honoured by this opportunity. I would like to wholeheartedly thank Shri. @JPNadda Ji for appointing me as the National President of the Mahila Morcha. @BJP4India. Under your and sh. @blsanthosh ji's guidance and blessings, I shall work tirelessly for serving the nation".
