Amid a deep struggle in resurging back towards victory, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings has been preparing to brace up yet another major blow for the team as one of the top all-rounders of the CSK Dwayne Bravo has exited the season owing to the injury, that he sustained while playing against the Delhi Capitals on October 17.
The Caribbean all-rounder won't be playing the rest of the reason due to a groin injury, leaving the team to face a big blow to the prevailing state of struggle with fewer chances of entering the playoff of the current season. The 37-year-old all-rounder couldn't able to bowl the final over against Delhi Capitals due to the injury following which skipper MS Dhoni was forced to give the ball to spinner Ravindra Jadeja only to give DC a comfortable win.
The apparent fact is CSK has most probably lost the chance of entering the playoffs even if it takes risk of bringing in Bravo after his recovery. CSK only has four matches in its hand and if it loses a single match, it would be confirmed that CSK will the first team to exit the season without entering the playoffs, which was a never-wished feat by the team and by fans in the IPL history.
According to PTI, CSK CEO Kashi Viswanathan said that Dwayne Bravo is ruled out of the IPL due to a groin injury. Bravo has played six matches in this season and scored only seven runs in two innings. However, he got six wickets with an economy rate of 8.57. As per the points table, CSK is at the last spot after it had conceded the defeat against the Rajasthan Royals in the last match that was held on October 19 in Abu Dhabi.
CSK had lost seven matches, more than any other teams in the IPL 2020 and with the back to back defeats, Dhoni's men in yellow have been proving its flawed performances and failing to build a winning momentum. With its tenacity for the upcoming matches that could go vain, the CSK has now been pushed to replace Bravo in the middle order amid the questions of how the team has been prepared to replace his loss.
With fewer possibilities in entering the playoffs, CSK would take on the defending champions Mumbai Indians on October 23. CSK has four more matches - one each with Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Kings XI Punjab. Dwayne Bravo is the third bowler to exit the season due to injury after SRH's Bhuvneshwar Kumar and DC's Amit Mishra.
