The Madras University has been clouded with controversies after the administration had allegedly expelled a post graduate student from the campus permanently by citing that the student has been flagging his involvement towards oiling the unrest in its premises. Its been about three weeks since the student has been expelled and the reports say that today, he had tabled his petition in Madras High court with the move of seeking justice.
It has been reported that the High court had nodded to hear his petition where it had issued notice to the University towards acquiring its response by September 24th, 2019. The sources from the university had stated that 27 year old Kirubamohan has been pursuing his MA post graduate degree in Buddhism since July 31st after obtaining his bachelor's degree from the university in journalism and communication in 2018 where along with his studies, the sources further indicated that he has been one of the faces to flag Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle in the university through which he had allegedly carried out protests in the premises against the beef ban and against inviting the BJP leaders for the events in the university.
It was August 29, the University's administration had suspended his post graduate admission and barricaded his studies under the grounds of not disclosing his transfer certificate while at the time of enrolling for post graduate programme and he was sent with official letter from the university which read that he was not eligible to continue his studies in the university.
While commenting about getting banned from pursuing higher studies, Kirubamohan had accused the university and cited that this decision was taken in the wake of organizing protests inside the premises and claimed that the head of the department has been pressurized by the Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and by the Vice Chancellor of the university to dismiss him. He added that there were two other students who failed to furnish the eligibility certificates but the university hadn't initiated action against them.
Rebutting his comments, the Vice Chancellor of the University had said that Kirubamohan had been suspended from the university under the proven grounds of violating the admission guidelines and the consent has been obtained from the head of the department before expelling him and further denied that Governor has no involvement towards his eviction.
