Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar is hospitalized in ICU after testing positive for Covid-19!

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has been hospitalized in Mumbai after testing positive for the Covid-19 viral infection. The 92-year-old singer, who is the laureate of India's highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna, has been flooded with prayers from across and beyond the borders as she battles for survival. 

According to reports, she has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after testing positive for the pandemic. Lata Mangeshkar's niece Rachna has confirmed the hospitalization and said the singer has mild symptoms. Speaking to ANI, Rachna has appealed to everyone to keep the ailing singer in prayers and asked the people to respect their privacy. 

Rachna said, "She is doing fine, has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. Please respect our privacy and keep Didi in your prayers." The singer was moved to the hospital on Monday- January 10 following the Covid test result. After knowing about her hospitalization, several prominent leaders and celebrities have been expressing their prayers to the singer for her speedy recovery.  

The ace singer has a history of hospitalization. Latha Mangeshkar was earlier admitted to the hospital in November 2019 after she complained of breathing problems. At the time, the singer's younger sister Usha had said that she had contracted a viral infection. She was then recovered and in September last year, she had celebrated her 92nd birthday and she had been active on social media, where she was habitual of sharing her throwback pictures.

The phenomenal singer has earned a huge fanbase across the generations through her voice and contribution. As a doyen on Indian singing fraternity, Lata was fondly called 'Nightingale of India'. She has recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films and has sung many tracks in several Indian and foreign languages.

For her contribution to the nation, Lata Mangeshkar was conferred with the Bharat Ratna award in 2001. She is the only second vocalist to receive the nation's highest civilian honour after singer MS Subbulakshmi. Mangeshkar was also the recipient of several awards including Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and several national film awards.
