Large crowd for discount at cost of their life: This Chennai shop made the entire city worry!

On the fourth day of enjoying the relaxations amid the COVID-19 spread, the shop in Chennai had become a testament of worry after people gathered and thronged in large numbers before the shop as the sequel of its discount offering of clothes. 

The textile shop that was located on Dr. Besant Road in Royapettah, Chennai had seen a large crowd gathering after it was re-opened. The shop has recently circulated advertisements on its discount offer that it is selling nine shirts for Rs 999. Following the discount, hundreds had gathered before the shop to avail the discount at the cost of their life. 

The visuals before the shop had shown that the crowd had taken a break from the mandated protocols of wearing masks and observing social distancing. The customers had thronged and rubbed the shoulders of each other to run into the shop to get the offer. The development was alerted to the police and health authorities. The policemen had arrived at the shop and asked the customers to leave. 

The incident had occurred on Friday, when the city had marked the fourth day of the relaxations. They tried to clear the crowd and the authorities of the Chennai Corporation had come and dispersed the crowd after which they closed and sealed the shop for violating the standard operating procedures that were mandated by the government to follow to curb the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. 

According to the police, the store has been temporarily sealed and no complaint has been filed and added that the case would be registered against the management of the store and stated that further action will be taken after the owner submits the petition. 

According to the reports, the Chennai Corporation has fined 600 people in the city on September 4 for not wearing masks and imposed a fine of Rs 2.45 lakh from the establishments that failed to ensure to maintain social distancing. The development has also signaled that people are yet to prepare to stick to the norms to curb the COVID-19 spread.
