It was a real tug-of-war between the titans as the battle lasted with the mixtures of stunning plays, awestruck moments, and tenacity to hit the victory. From the toss to the presentation ceremony, the captain's battle against the hitman had stolen all eyes, that had gone unflinching throughout the match as both the teams had clinched towards the victory.
Though it was one of the expected matches as iconic batsmen and captains had rivaled, what we had witnessed in the match was a thriller to its peak and when Rohit's team was ought to chase a huge target, Kohli's royal fleet of challengers initially had the game under control after they contained Mumbai Indians from chasing the target. However, Ishan Kishan and Pollard had shown Kohli's team that they can't be contained after they unleashed a real twist in the death overs. Here are some of the top and interesting moments from the match,
Mumbai Indians won all the important toss against the Royal Challengers Bangalore and to everyone's surprise, Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first. Three batsmen from Royal Challengers Bangalore scored half-centuries, a very rare thing in the T20s. Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch added 81 runs in their first wicket partnership which laid the foundation for a 200 plus score (201/3) in the end.
It was the day of AB de Villiers as he scored an unbeaten 55 runs off just 24 balls. As always, he was everywhere. His innings was the game-changer as RCB scored 78 runs from the last 5 overs. Shivam Dube joined the party in the death overs and scored 27 runs from 10 balls that included 3 sixes.
Pollard was dropped by Pawan Negi on the second ball of the 16th over bowled by Zampa. He was dropped again by Chahal in the last ball of the same over. At that point, it looked very costly because Pollard was continuously hitting the balls out of the park and seemed quite dangerous, and the cost of dropping the catch from Pollard had left RCB to the super over, which curtailed Kohli's team from having an easy win.
With all the drama in the last few overs and some power hitting by Pollard and a 99 by young Ishan Kishan, the match ended in a tie and it was the second super over in IPL 2020. Pandya and Pollard could score only 7 runs for MI in the super over, thanks to the fantastic bowling by Saini under pressure. It was Virat and AB de Villiers who came to chase that target for the Royal Challengers.
The ever-reliable Bumrah was handed over with the responsibility of defending the very low target set by MI in the super over. Once again it was a tense chase. RCB needed 1 run from the last ball. Virat was facing Bumrah. With all his class, he had sent the ball to the boundary line and ensured a nail-biting super over win for the RCB. The silent star of the game was Washington Sundar from RCB. He bowled 4 overs, took a wicket, and gave away just 12 runs, which is praiseworthy.
