It’s a dream come true for the filmbuffs as two of the most celebrated icons of the industry, Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, are joining hands for a film after a long gap. The duo, who gave us the masterpiece Nayakan in 1987, are all set to create magic on the screen once again with their upcoming project, tentatively titled KH234. If that’s not enough to raise your excitement levels, here's the latest exciting news.

The film has reportedly roped in one of the finest actresses of Bollywood, Vidya Balan, to play the female lead opposite Kamal Haasan in the much-awaited collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam. The project, tentatively titled KH234, will mark the reunion of the two legends after 36 years since their critically acclaimed Nayakan.

Vidya Balan, who has won several National Awards for her performances in movies like The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, and Tumhari Sulu, is no stranger to Tamil cinema. She made a cameo appearance in Ajith’s Nerkonda Paarvai, the remake of Pink, and also worked with Mani Ratnam in his Hindi film Guru. However, this will be her first full-fledged role in a Tamil film and that too opposite Kamal Haasan, who is known for his acting prowess and versatility.

KH234 is expected to go on floors once Kamal Haasan wraps up his ongoing project Indian 2 with director Shankar. The sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian will see Kamal Haasan reprise his dual role of Senapathy, a freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption. 

Meanwhile, Mani Ratnam is basking in the success of his magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2, which hit the screens today. The film is based on the historical novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy and chronicles the life and times of Rajaraja Chola, one of the greatest rulers of the Chola dynasty. The music is composed by A.R. Rahman, who has also teamed up with Mani Ratnam for KH234.
