While Keezhadi had unearthed precious findings and discoveries of the artefacts that historically revealed the possible connection between the Indus Valley and the Tamil civilization throughout its five phases of excavations, it now prepares for the sixth phase of the excavation as Keezhadi has been housing more hectares of archeological nectar.
The reports say that the sixth phase of the excavation would be camping at the end of January and for this phase, the Tamil Nadu state department of archeology has joined hands with the state's educational institutions throughout the excavation that certainly would exhume and uncover more revelations of Tamil culture and civilization. Along with Keezhadi, the archeological department has obtained the consent of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) to excavate similar places of the state including Kodumanal in Erode district and in Adichanallur and Sivagalai which lies in Tuticorin district.
The reports have stated that the department has united with the School of Biological Sciences which functions under Madurai Kamarajar University to conduct deep research on the findings including DNA analysis and it has invited National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bengaluru throughout the sixth phase of the excavation for carrying out the metallurgical studies of the precious items Keezhadi will uncover from its grounds. Along with that, the department has also tied up with Deccan College in Pune and French Institute Pondicherry to conduct extensive research on the artefacts.
In October 2019, the Keezhadi village in Tamil Nadu's Sivaganga district had wrapped up its fifth phase of the excavation by exhuming about 900 artefacts that were lying beneath the ground for over 2,600 years. The fifth phase, which camped for four months had unearthed the precious items and findings including pots, earthenware, and carved stones which were used by the ancient Tamil people in the banks of the Vaigai river. The fifth phase had strongly cemented the possibilities of an urban civilization lived alongside the banks of the Vaigai river and these discovered artefacts had justified the presence of the grounds of good infrastructure with potential water management parameters.
Five phases of excavations in Keezhadi have uncovered the real age of the Tamil Sangam era which is about 2,600 years older and further exhumed that the Tamil Sangam people had attained the literacy and art of writing and the proven possibilities of promoting the agriculture and cattle and the excavations had largely and strongly revealed that Dravidian was the language spoken by the people in Keezhadi and the advancements of excavations had taken the archaeologists back to much more ancient civilization that has been rewriting and redefining the history which is been recorded currently.
