The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime branch has, on Tuesday, removed all the videos from the 'Karuppar Koottam' Youtube Channel, days after the channel and its publishers entangled with the controversy and outrage after the group was seriously accused of making demeaning and derogatory statements against Lord Murugan and the devotional slogan 'Kanda Sashti Kavacham'.
The latest development of removing the videos has come after the cybercrime branch has arrested four persons attached to the Youtube channel. The video has stirred major controversy from the Hindu groups including BJP and other pro-Hindu outfits which protested against the group with the demand of taking strict action against the responsible for the video.
According to the reports, the Chief of Tamil Nadu BJP Advocates wing has moved the complaint against 'Karuppar Koottam' with the cybercrime police on July 13 in which he demanded the action against Surendra Natarajan for publishing a video with the disrespectful remarks against the Hindu God Murugan.
Following the development, the cybercrime department has arrested four people so far. Senthil Vasan was arrested on July 15 while Surendra Natarajan, who was the anchor of Karuppar Kootam, had surrendered before the Tamil Nadu police on July 16 whereas the rest two had detained recently.
According to the latest reports, two of the arrested four -Somasundaram and Guhan have been taken under the judicial custody till August 4, based on the directive from the Egmore court. Amid the arrest, the video has spurred a heated controversy and incidents. Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Murugan has protested in Chennai and urged the authorities to book the responsible people of the Youtube Channel under the grounds of the National Security Act.
The members of the Bharat Sena outfit, a pro-Hindu group, in Coimbatore had reportedly dishonored Periyar statue last week by claiming that the video against Lord Murugan had provoked them while a member of the Thamizhaga Hindu Makkal Katchi had attempted to wrap a saffron cloth on the Periyar statue in Erode on Monday.
The police had detained the member who attempted to wrap a saffron cloth in Erode while the member responsible for vandalizing the Periyar statue in Coimbatore had surrendered before the police.
