Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has, on Friday, announced that he would be working from home as the precautionary measure as the sequel of the virus spread in his circle after some of the staff members attached to his official residence in Bengaluru tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19).
In a statement, the Chief Minister said that he would be discharging his duties from his home from Friday for the next few days as a preventive measure to avoid the viral infection. By citing that he is healthy and stable, he stated that he would be providing appropriate and necessary directions to his government through online.
He further appealed to people not to get panic over the development. He called on people to stick to the advisories and guidelines issued by the government to curb the spread of the pandemic.
According to the reports, Yediyurappa has chaired his cabinet meeting recently and he also has visited the state's largest COVID-19 care center on Thursday. After three staff members at his official residence - a driver, an electrician, and a pilot vehicle staffer, tested positive for the virus, the Chief Minister has decided to work from home and he also has canceled the scheduled meetings on Friday.
According to the Union Health Ministry, Karnataka has reported 31,105 cases so far as of Friday morning of which 17,786 are active, 12,833 have been discharged, and 486 had succumbed to the virus. The Bengaluru Corporation (BBMP) said that the city has reported 13,882 cases so far as of Thursday including 1,373 cases reported by the city on Thursday.
Two days back, Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren has said that he has been under home quarantine after a state cabinet minister, whom he met recently, tested positive for the virus.
