Suriya, the National Award-winning actor-producer, has been creating a lot of buzz with his upcoming film Kanguva, directed by Siruthai Siva. The film, which was earlier referred to as Suriya 42, has been officially titled Kanguva.The film is said to be a pan-Indian project that will release in 10 languages and 3D format in early 2024.
But that’s not all. In a recent interview, producer KE Gnanvelraja of Studio Green Films banner revealed that the South Indian digital rights of Kanguva have been sold to Amazon Prime Video for a staggering 80 crores. This is a huge deal for a Tamil film and shows the confidence that the makers have in the product. Kanguva is expected to be a visual spectacle with high-octane action sequences and stunning VFX.
Kanguva is reportedly based on a fictional story of a warrior who died in the 1600s due to a disease and a girl who researches about him and the disease in the present day. Suriya is said to play five different characters in the film, spanning different time periods. Bollywood actress Disha Patani is making her Tamil debut as the female lead opposite Suriya.
The film has music by Devi Sri Prasad, who has previously worked with Suriya in films like Maayavi, Aaru, Singam and Singam 2. The cinematography is by Vetri Palanisamy, who is a regular collaborator of Siruthai Siva. The film also has production design by Milan, editing by Nishad Yusuf, action choreography by Supreme Sundar and dialogues by Madhan Karky.
The fans of Suriya are ecstatic about the title announcement and the digital deal of Kanguva and have been trending hashtags like #Kanguva, #VaadiVaasal and #DishaPatani on Twitter. They are eagerly waiting for the teaser of the film, which is likely to be released in May.
