Unfolding a high-level drama amid the heated political scenes in Tamil Nadu ahead of the assembly polls, Actor and President of Makkal Needhi Maiam Kamal Haasan had stirred a fresh political debate and speculations after meeting his longtime friend Superstar Rajinikanth in Chennai on Saturday.
Kamal Haasan had met Rajinikanth at the latter's residence in Poes Garden, Chennai and according to reports, the meeting had lasted for 45 minutes during which both the legendary actors had said to have discussed the entire gamut of the current state from health to politics including the upcoming assembly polls. The meet has drawn more significance with its timeline and with various speculations of what could have been a key factor discussed by them. Kamal Haasan drove to Rajinikanth's residence on Saturday, nearly two months after the superstar actor had closed his political gates by shockingly announcing that he will not enter politics.
Rajinikanth's announcement came when he was surfaced with larger expectations from the fans and members that he will enter politics ahead of the assembly polls. He had even asserted that he will launch a political party in January 2021, which had apparently changed the political game. However, days ahead of giving life to his announcement, Rajinikanth had shocked his fans by announcing that he will not enter politics due to his health condition.
As Rajinikanth had cleared the clouds of speculations and closed his political gates in a day through an announcement, thousands had expressed their shock, and one among them is Kamal Haasan. The actor turned politician had expressed his disappointment over Rajinikanth's decision of not entering politics. Kamal Haasan further asserted that he will meet Rajinikanth and seek his support for his party Makkal Needhi Maiam, which is preparing to contest in its first legislative elections.
Kamal Haasan was busy on the campaign trail while Rajinikanth was busy in his movie works. The Superstar was hospitalized for three days in last December in Hyderabad after he had complained of high blood pressure. Rajinikanth was in the 'Annaatthe' shooting in Hyderabad and some of the members of the movie had tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection. Though Rajinikanth had tested negative for the pandemic, he was hospitalized and returned to Chennai with advice to avoid any situation that would make him vulnerable to the pandemic.
Disturbed by the sudden health setback, Rajinikanth had announced he won't be entering politics and amid the protests held by his fans urging him to enter politics, the superstar had pressed that he is firm in his decision and won't enter politics. Kamal Haasan has said he will meet Rajinikanth and enquire about his health condition apart from seeking his support. However, Kamal Haasan had also undergone leg surgery recently in Chennai, which pushed him to limit his public appearances.
After the recovery, Kamal Haasan became active on the campaign trails and it was expected that he could meet Rajinikanth anytime. In the midst of the expectations, Kamal Haasan has on Saturday met Rajinikanth at the latter's residence and the meeting lasted for 45 minutes. As it wasn't a planned meeting, Kamal's sudden political drama had occupied the headlines with speculations of what they have discussed.
According to reports, Kamal Haasan had met Rajinikanth to know the latter's health condition and during the meeting, they had exchanged mutual wishes over their health and the reports claimed that politics wasn't on the fray of discussion between the actors during the meeting. However, some reports suggested that Kamal Haasan, as a politician, has sought support from Rajinikanth for his party in the assembly polls. In evidence of the political discussion, Kamal Haasan has held an important meeting with the senior leaders of the party in Chennai hours after concluding his meet with Rajinikanth.
