Actor turned politician and President of Makkal Needhi Maiam party Kamal Haasan has been hospitalized in Chennai and the development has come at a high time when he has been preparing for the next round of election campaign in the state, ahead of the assembly polls.
According to reports, Kamal Haasan had undergone leg surgery at Sri Ramachandra Hospital in Chennai on Tuesday and he has been doing well towards recovery. The actor turned politician is expected to get discharged within four to five days. Daughters of the actor, Shruti Haasan, and Akshara Haasan had on Tuesday issued a statement concerning their father's health condition.
In the statement that Shruti had released on Twitter, both the daughters of Kamal Haasan said, "We would like to begin by thanking you for your overwhelming support, prayers, and genuine concern regarding our father's recent medical procedure. We are happy to inform all of you that the surgery was a success! The surgery was performed on his leg this morning at Sri Ramachandra Hospital, performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mohan Kumar along with Dr. JSN Murthy".
They stated, "The doctors, attendees, and the Hospital Management are taking wonderful care of our father and he is doing well, is in good spirits, and working toward a speedy recovery. He will return home in four to five days. After a few days of rest and recuperating from the surgery, he shall be ready to interact with people as always". "A heartfelt thank you from us for all your prayers for his well-being and the immense love showered on him. We are grateful that your good energy will be a big part of his speedy recovery", the daughters added.
On Sunday, Kamal Haasan had informed the public through a statement that doctors had advised him to undergo a leg surgery as a follow-up of his previous surgery. He further stated that the doctors had instructed him to take complete rest before returning to the campaign trail. Kamal Haasan said he has decided to undergo follow-up surgery after his first leg of the election campaign has ended so is Bigg Boss Tamil season four, which he anchored and the season was curtailed down on Sunday.
The actor turned politician had completed the first tour of the election campaign recently under his party's banner of 'Re-Imagine Tamizh Nadu'. Kamal Haasan has added that he will use the time of his hospitalization in learning from the first leg of the campaign and asserted that he will stay connected to the people with the help of technology. Years back, Kamal Haasan received leg surgery at Apollo Hospitals after he sustained injuries after he fell down from the stairs in her residence in Alwarpet, Chennai.
He has decided to get a follow-up surgery at Sri Ramachandra Hospital and he underwent the procedure on Tuesday. In a statement, Apollo Hospitals on Tuesday said that Kamal Haasan was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Center for a follow-up surgery in view of a mild infection of his right leg bone. He underwent surgery for the removal of the ineffective focus in the Tibial bone and he is stable and recovering well.
