After staying off from the eyes of the audience for over a year, every artist in the movie industry is under a desperate need to earn a potential breakthrough and a spotlight to revive back stronger and having said that, every actor looks for a decent reception for their movies in a New Year. Actor Sibiraj is one among the artists to enjoy the first-line theatrical release of his movie 'Kabadadaari', but whether the movie has helped him to revive and whether it has given a comeback or a setback? Let's review...
Kabadadaari is the fifteenth movie for Sibiraj, who has been active for over 17 years and the film is the remake of Sandalwood's blockbuster 'Kavaludaari'. Sibiraj is finding shelter with his play as a police officer in some of his recent movies and Kabadadaari has got added to that list. Kabadadaari is the second collaboration between Sibiraj and Pradeep Krishnamoorthy and their first one 'Sathya' has earned a decent reception but has their second project exceeded the expectations from the fans and audiences?
Shakti (Sibiraj) is a Traffic cop always with the desire of working in the Crime Branch department. But, his higher official blocks his desire and pushing him to stay as clearing vehicles than clearing the crimes. While Shakti steers with his desire, three bones and mortal remains were unearthed from a land when it was dug to construct a flyover. After identifying that the crime branch didn't probe the incident properly, Shakti, being a traffic cop, takes up the case unofficially. The rest of the story revolves around the challenges embraced by Sibiraj after taking the case, whether he escapes from the dangers, and whether he successfully probed the case.
Though the storyline is typical, the screenplay of the movie looks pretty new and it was in fact cemented strongly. The twists and turns were placed in the movie which resembled it close to a serious thriller. Director Pradeep Krishnamoorthy has steered the story with various suspense and with the curiosity of knowing what happens next. The screenplay had also pillared the flashback scenes by displaying them in the right pattern and length.
The director must be commended for presenting interesting scenes without changing the base story, but the movie would have been widely spoken if it has used the role of the female lead in a better way. The movie also got stumbled with the incomplete climax--climax deserves to gain more importance as it concludes the story, but this element has gone missing in the movie, which has become a setback.
Kabadadaari comes as a decent comeback for Sibiraj after a long time. He has done justice to his role and delivered the facial reactions in a way that he had done a broad homework to live up to the role. Actress Nandita Swetha looks pathetic and so is her role while veteran actors Nassar and Jayaprakash had carried the movie as two pillars. Their splendid characters had strengthened the screenplay.
Besides screenplay, the background music scored by Simon King has also become one of the heroes. With the absence of typical lengthy songs, King has poured life into every scene through his rock music, which has become one of the reasons that kept the audiences close to the movie. 'Kabadadaari' has got released on Thursday - January 28 and it has got a decent reception. Though Sibiraj still awaits for a movie to reserve his everlasting place in the cinema industry, through Kabadadaari, he has shown that he can't be written off.
