It's official! Ulaganayagan joins the team of Project K! The thespian star pens a long note

In an exhilarating update, the highly anticipated sci-fi extravaganza 'Project K' has just raised the stakes by roping in an additional luminary to its already stellar cast. The legendary thespian, Kamal Haasan, has officially sealed a significant role in this magnum opus helmed by the visionary director Nag Ashwin and brought to life by the creative genius of producer C. Aswani Dutt under the prestigious banner of Vyjayanthi Movies.

Joining forces with Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani, Kamal Haasan adds another gleaming facet to this constellation of talent, promising an awe-inspiring cinematic experience beyond imagination.

‘Project K’ is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, with an estimated budget of ₹600 crore (US$63 million). It is a futuristic action thriller that promises to showcase cutting-edge visual effects and stunning action sequences. The film is scheduled to release on 12 January 2024 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam languages. It will also be released globally in different languages including English.

Kamal Haasan expressed his excitement about joining the film and working with his co-stars. He said, “50 years back when I was a dance assistant and an assistant director, the name Aswani Dutt loomed large in the production sector. Both of us are coming together after 50 years. A brilliant director from our next generation is at the helm. My co-stars Prabhas and Deepika are also of that generation. I have worked with Amit-ji [Bachchan] before. Yet every time it feels like the first time. Amit-ji keeps reinventing himself. I am also emulating that inventive process.”

He added, “I am eagerly waiting for ‘Project K’. Whatever position the audience places me at, my primary quality is that I am a film buff. That quality will keep applauding any new attempt in my industry. Let mine be the first applause for ‘Project K’. With our director Nag Ashwin’s vision I am sure that applause will echo across our country and the world of cinema.”

Producer C. Aswani Dutt's Vyjayanti Movies is the father in law of the director Nag Ashwin who said that it was a huge honor to attempt to do something new with an actor like Kamal Haasan, who has done so many iconic roles. He wrote, "This man is a legend...and a legend is what we needed for this role.  Can't wait to learn and make something timeless sir @ikamalhaasan".

‘Project K’ marks the debut of Deepika Padukone in Telugu cinema and the first full-length role of Amitabh Bachchan in a Telugu film. Prabhas, whose latest film ‘Adipurush’, just released, will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in ‘Project K’. Disha Patani, who is currently filming for Kanguva, will also play a significant role in the film.

The film has already created a lot of buzz among the fans and the media with its star-studded cast and grand scale. The filming began two years back in a futuristic set erected at Ramoji Film City, in Hyderabad. The film’s music score is composed by Santhosh Narayanan with cinematography by Djordje Stojiljkovic and production design by Nitin Zihani Choudhary.
