It's Kamal Haasan vs Gautami...How BJP is using the tussle between them in the polls?

Having a political breakthrough and enhance its base in Tamil Nadu is a Himalayan task for the Central ruling BJP and though it rules the country for the past seven years, Tamil Nadu would probably be the only state where the party won't have a single representation in the assembly. Finding a prospect of saffronizing the state in the absence of political giants Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa, the Modi- Amit Shah duo hopes the change the history and to break the stronghold of the opposition parties and along with taking on DMK, the BJP is also finding ways to defeat Kamal Haasan.

Actor turned politician Kamal Haasan, who is the President of Makkal Needhi Maiam, has come to active politics as a staunch critic of ADMK and BJP, which he calls the current boss of the state ruling regime. Kamal Haasan has been unfolding his intense campaign strategies against ADMK and BJP. One of the special fleets that BJP has, unlike any other parties, is a pile of celebrities. Several veteran actors of the Tamil Cinema industry were been deployed by the BJP on the campaign trail and to take on Kamal Haasan's party and his campaign, the BJP has deputed actress Gautami Tadimalla, who was the former partner of Kamal Haasan.

Gautami is one of the star campaigners of the BJP and she has been tasked with the role of taking on Kamal Haasan in the constituencies where he and his party candidates are contesting for the assembly polls. Initially, Gautami was on the cards of the possible BJP candidates in Tamil Nadu and it was speculated that she would be contesting from the Rajapalayam constituency, to cultivate the votes from the Telugu-speaking people, who dominantly occupy the town.

However, the BJP had lost the Rajapalayam seat in the alliance talks as the ruling ADMK had awarded the seat to its minister KT Rajendra Balaji. Though she was denied a ticket, Gautami wasn't reported to have dissented with the party's leadership and she has got ready for her task of taking on Kamal's party. The reports say that the BJP has planned to use the tussle between Kamal and Gautami to stir the actress to take on the former in the assembly polls.

It has been expected that Gautami would anytime reach the Coimbatore South constituency, where Kamal is contesting, to defeat him. This constituency is one of the seats in Tamil Nadu to get a strong political spotlight for its heated race. While Kamal Haasan has chosen this constituency to enter the assembly for the first time, BJP has fielded it's National Mahila Morcha President Vanathi Srinivasan as the candidate.

The BJP has been sending some star campaigners to Coimbatore South including veteran actor Radharavi to seek votes for Vanathi Srinivasan. He had recently campaigned in Coimbatore South during which he slammed Kamal Haasan and in line with that, Gautami is expected to tour the state soon when Tamil Nadu just has five days to end the campaign as per the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The BJP is contesting in 20 assembly seats and in the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha bypoll.

Gautami was addressing a news agency during which she said that she was impressed by the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi, which she claimed as the factor that pushed her to join the BJP. She said that both the leaders had led the country on the right path. She further said that she will only be happy with Kamal Haasan if he manages to split votes to benefit the BJP and the ADMK. It has to be noted that Kamal Haasan and Gautami had lived together for almost ten years before splitting a few years back.

Tamil Nadu will go to the single-phase assembly poll on April 6 and the votes will be counted on May 2, during which the results would be announced. In an unprecedented fashion, the state is witnessing five fronts on the track to victory - ADMK and its alliance, DMK and its alliance, Kamal Haasan- Sarathkumar- IJK, AMMK- DMDK, and Seeman's Naam Tamilar Katchi.
