'It's a fitting tribute to Vivek sir': Veteran actress Simran thanks MK Stalin for honouring the late comedian!

Veteran actress Simran has on Monday - May 2 thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for honouring the late comedian Padma Shri Vivek by naming the road, where Vivek's home is located, after him. The visuals of the signage installed by the Chennai Corporation carrying Vivek's name were going viral across social media.

The development has come days after Vivek's wife Arulselvi had petitioned the Chief Minister to name the road after Vivek. The late actor's house sits on the Padmavathi Nagar main road in Virugambakkam, Chennai. On April 25, Arulselvi met the Chief Minister at the Chief Secretariat. She was accompanied by actor Cell Murugan and her kids. Arulselvi has requested Chief Minister MK Stalin to name the road, where the actor's house is situated, after Vivek.

The demised actor was a Padma Shri laureate and he was a reputed comedian in the Indian cinema. The request from the actor's wife to the Chief Minister has come a year of the actor's demise. Days after her demand, the Greater Chennai Corporation has now named the road after Vivek. After the change, the road is now called, "Chinna Kalaivanar Vivek Road."

As the state government has honoured the late actor by naming the road after him, veteran actress Simran has thanked the Chief Minister for this tribute. She took to Twitter on Monday and wrote, "It's a fitting tribute to Late Shri.Vivek sir. Thank you, MK Stalin sir. An actor par excellence, An environmentalist, A great human being and a caring friend. Though short he left us great memories and responsibilities to fulfil."

Vivek was prominently known for his social service and following the footsteps of late Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the actor has planted lakhs of saplings and he had been campaigning about the safety measures to beat the Covid-19 pandemic. He had passed away on April 17, 2021, in Chennai at the age of 59 due to cardiac arrest.
