'It will happen anytime': Warning from TN Chief Minister MK Stalin!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has issued a warning to the people of the state that the withdrawal of relaxations could happen anytime if the lockdown norms are violated. The warning from the Chief Minister has come when Tamil Nadu has entered the fresh phase of the lockdown from June 14 to June 21 with major relaxations.

During the week-long lockdown, the government has permitted the resumption of the TASMAC liquor shops in 27 districts that are reporting a decline in the COVID19 cases. The decision of reopening the liquor shops had drawn massive flak to the government with the opposition alliance including BJP, ADMK, and PMK had flayed the Chief Minister for resuming TASMAC shops and urged him to prioritize people's health than revenue.

Stalin has said that the government has decided to re-open the TASMAC shops as the Covid cases are decreasing. He also said that the liquor shops will be operated with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). On Monday, he said that the relaxations could be withdrawn anytime if people do not follow COVID-19 norms. If people follow the norms, the state could move ahead and permit public transport and reopen schools and colleges in the state.

In a video appeal, the Chief Minister had thanked the people for following the norms in the past few weeks and helping the state in reducing the cases. The government has on Sunday announced that the tea shops would be functioning in the state from Monday. MK Stalin said that relaxations are introduced gradually to help the livelihood of the people. He appealed to the people not to crowd at tea shops and adhere to the Covid norms.

He said, "In the albeit of inviting flak, the government has permitted re-opening TASMAC outlets and we do not want people to suffer by consuming booze in the illicit market." According to the state health department, Tamil Nadu has reported 14,016 fresh COVID-19 cases, 25, 895 discharges, and 267 deaths on Sunday. Overall, the state had recorded 23,53,721 cases so far as of Sunday of which 1,49,927 are active, 21,74,247 have been discharged, and 29,547 cases had succumbed to the viral infection.
