Introducing Ponniyin Selvan...The poster of the Great Raja Raja Chola is out ahead of the movie's teaser!

Hours ahead of unveiling the most-awaited teaser of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, the movie team has on Friday - July 8 released the poster of the character of the Great Raja Raja Chola, who is called Ponniyin Selvan (the son of Ponni). Actor Jayam Ravi will be featuring as Raja Raja Chola, also known as Arunmozhi Varman, in the movie, which has been slated for a theatrical release on September 30, 2022. 

On July 8, Lyca Productions, which bankrolls the movie along with Madras Talkies, release the poster of Raja Raja Chola. Taking to Twitter, the production house wrote, "Hail the Visionary Prince, the Architect of the Golden Era, the Great Raja Raja Chola…introducing Ponniyin Selvan!" The teaser of the movie will be released at 6 pm on Friday. 

The poster featured Jayam Ravi in a warrior look, as he had a brave blood mark on his face and carrying war weapons. Rajaraja I alias Ponniyin Selvan (featured by Jayam Ravi) is the son of Sundara Cholan (featured by Prakash Raj), whose mentor was his sister Kundhavai (featured by Trisha). Vandhiyathevan (featured by Karthi) was his best friend, who was a brave, adventurous and sarcastic warrior. 

Ponniyin Selvan is based on the novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy under the same name and the fans are just two months ahead to relish this humongous project that took years to materialize. As the motion poster has been released, it has been reported that the teaser of the movie would get released by this month. 

The epic historical story has roped in legends and the movie will be getting released in five languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. While Mani Ratnam has helmed the project, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vijayakumar, Nassar, and Balaji Sakthivel will play important roles. 

Interestingly, AR Rahman composed the music while Kabilan and Venba Geethayan penned the lyrics for the songs and Jayamohan has written the dialogues. The shooting of the film has been completed and the final stages are underway after several changes. While actor Suriya will be releasing the teaser in Tamil, Bollywood biggie Amitabh Bachchan will be releasing the teaser in Hindi and Mahesh Babu, Rakshit Shetty, and Mohanlal will be releasing the teaser in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam respectively.
