'Indian 2' mishap: Kamal Haasan appears for investigation- Here's the update!

Nearly after a fortnight since the 'Indian 2' movie sets had reported with the unexpected mishap that claimed the lives of three technicians and left dozens injured, Actor turned politician Kamal Haasan, who is starring in a lead role in the movie, has on Tuesday appeared before the Chennai police for investigations, making him a second notable crew member of the movie to appear before the police followed by movie director Shankar, who was investigated earlier.

The mishap took place on the night hours of February 19 in the EVP film city, where the movie sets were installed, in the outskirts of Chennai. The crane that was put up for the movie shoot had collapsed and stumbled on the technicians standing on the ground and the incident reportedly killed three crew members. The three deceased were identified as Madhu -the production assistant, Chandran - the art assistant, and Krishna - the assistant director who was working under Director Shankar in the movie and the mishap has injured dozens.

The police had issued summons to Actor Kamal Haasan and Director Shankar to appear for the investigations concerning the accident. While Shankar appeared before, Kamal Haasan appeared before the probing team on Tuesday. While addressing the reporters after the conclusion of the investigations, Kamal Haasan said that he conveyed to the probing team about what he knew on the mishap and he stated that during the course of the investigations, the actor and the officials had discussed about how to prevent these mishaps in future.

Earlier, Kamal Haasan said that he had a narrow escape in the set and he urged the cinema industry to take the efforts to enhance the safety measures for the junior and on-ground employees on the movie sets. He added that he personally feels disgraced of not being able to save the lives of the ground level technicians.

The actor has offered compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of the deceased. After the incident was reported, the police department registered the case against Lyca productions chairman Subhaskaran, who is the producer of the movie. The police booked him with several sections of IPC under the grounds of causing grievous hurt and death by negligence.
