The wait is almost over for the fans, who are eagerly looking forward to the release of Kamal Haasan's magnum opus ‘Indian 2’. The film, which is a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster ‘Indian’, is slated to hit the theatres this April, coinciding with the Tamil New Year. Will the film get a solo release or clash with another biggie at the box office? That remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: ‘Indian 2’ is going to be a massive treat for the audience.

The film, which is produced by Lyca Productions, has wrapped up its shooting a few weeks ago, and is currently undergoing post-production work. The film is directed by Shankar, who also helmed the first part. ‘Indian 2’ will see Kamal Haasan reprise his iconic role of Senapathy, a freedom fighter-turned-vigilante who wages a war against corruption. Kamal will also play another role in the film, which is kept under wraps.

The film also features an ensemble cast of S. J. Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh and others.

The music of the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography done by Ravi Varman and Rathnavelu and editing performed by A. Sreekar Prasad. Indian 2 is expected to release in 2023, while Indian 3 will follow in 2024. The fans are eagerly waiting for this epic saga to unfold on the big screen. There will be an Indian 3 as well, as the premise of the film is loaded with several sub-plots and warrants two parts to reach the conclusion.

Also, the footage shot so far was too long 6 hours, so naturally, the film requires a part 3 to do justice to the story and the characters. Both parts will be released in a gap of one year span, and the climax of Part 2 will lead for Part-3. 

‘Indian 2’ is expected to be a high-octane action thriller, with some spectacular stunts and visuals. The film will also touch upon some relevant social issues, and showcase Kamal Haasan’s versatility and charisma. ‘Indian 2’ is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and is sure to create a storm at the box office.
