India has been in the list of nuclear power countries after successfully conducting its nuclear tests in May 1998 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was Prime minister of India. Despite of unleashing the most powerful weapon, India had always stood and underlined its "no first use" policy on its nuclear weapons.
After sensing the series of unrest for over a fortnight, Indian Defense minister Rajnath Singh had said that India will flag its new course on its nuclear policy depending on the circumstances.
Respecting the former Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his first death anniversary, Rajnath Singh had visited Pokhran, the site of India's nuclear tests for paying his tribute for former leader, where he had tweeted that, Pokhran is the area which witnessed Atal Ji's firm resolve to enhance India's nuclear capability where the country had remained firmly with its commitment to the doctrine of "No first use" but however, India will steadily change its course of nuclear policy in future depending on the circumstances.
Pokhran is the area which witnessed Atal Ji’s firm resolve to make India a nuclear power and yet remain firmly committed to the doctrine of ‘No First Use’. India has strictly adhered to this doctrine. What happens in future depends on the circumstances.
