Expelled ADMK leader VK Sasikala's outreach has been in a fashion that it no way can be stopped by the current leadership of the party despite firing the functionaries for speaking with and supporting the expelled leader, who is currently in the process of making a political comeback and take over the party.
For the past few days, VK Sasikala has been reaching out to the party functionaries over the phone and asserting that she will come back to politics to take over the party from current leaders Edappadi Palaniswami and Panneerselvam. The audio clip of her phone call has been released by her supporters which has been immensely shocking to the current leadership. As part of her outreach, her 42nd audio clip was released on Tuesday in which she reiterates her assertion.
On Tuesday, she has spoken with the ADMK functionaries in several districts including Madurai, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Tenkasi. The audio clip has been going viral as it has come a day after the mass firing at the ADMK as Palaniswami and Panneerselvam had fired 17 members including a former ADMK minister for speaking with and supporting Sasikala.
In the latest clip, she can be heard saying she will come soon and set the party straight. Sasikala said, "Some elections are coming up. We have to win and protect the legacy of Amma (Jayalalithaa). I am deeply pained that party workers are expelled when we are in opposition. I have a responsibility. I am confident that I would be able to set the party straight."
By citing that she will definitely come back to politics, she said, "My wish is that the ADMK should be strong even if it turns 100 years. We would definitely bring Amma's rule. I will meet all of you soon". Speaking to one of the functionaries, Sasikala can be heard saying, "Don't worry. Be courageous. I will come after the pandemic is over." Responding to her assertion, a functionary says, "We are with you, Amma."
In another audio clip, Sasikala targeted Palaniswami by stating that Panneerselvam was her choice for the post of Chief Minister. She said, "That time, he (Panneerselvam) resigned on his own. Otherwise, he was my choice and I would have made him for the post. I hear from many that the party is going on caste lines." "I am sad that they have taken the party to this level. All would know what would happen if this continues. Even now, the party could have come up but there was no cooperation from the other side", Sasikala added.
On Monday, ADMK leaders Palaniswami and Panneerselvam had expelled 17 functionaries including former minister Anandan and party's spokesperson Pugazhendhi for speaking with Sasikala and bringing disrepute and violating the principles of the party. The mass firing had stunned many in the party and Pugazhendhi had staunchly flayed the ADMK leadership for expelling him.
Pugazhendhi is a supporter of Sasikala and he had taken care of the arrangements, when he was the party's secretary in Karnataka, when the ADMK leaders arrived at Bengaluru to see Sasikala while she was lodged in the prison. Sasikala was shocked to learn that Pugazhendhi was expelled from the party and while speaking with a party functionary concerning Pugazhendhi's removal, Sasikala said, "I am surprised with the decision of Palaniswami and Panneerselvam over removing Pugazhendhi". Earlier, while addressing the media, Pugazhendhi said that Palaniswami has been turning into a dictator.
