Legendary actors and political newbies Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are preparing for their first legislative elections, which would write prefix for what they aim to build as their political legacies. In the albeit of having a possible clash between their ironic policies and ideologies, they are chalking out a plan to unfold a major political alliance in the upcoming assembly poll, which is four months away.
As it would be the first state elections since the demise of political giants Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa, the race gets multi-tracked as the political leaders are hoping to fill up the vacuum of the next political face in the state after the departed leaders. With Edappadi Palaniswami facing his first assembly poll as the Chief Minister and Stalin as the DMK President, they both are advancing their campaigns to make their firsts big. However, they would be facing a bigger race as the two-faced marathon gets multi-faced.
With Rajinikanth curtained down the screens of suspense and opened them for his political episodes and Kamal Haasan mulling to take 'Viswaroopam' in politics with the least but decent vote bank that he secured during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the race gets widened and amid the political differences between the legendary actors, they are now thinking to clear the clouds of irony and to unite in forming a major alliance, which possibly would become a third front.
While Rajinikanth is two weeks behind from when he said he would be launching his political party, Kamal Haasan has already kickstarted the political campaign in the state. Kamal Haasan, who is the founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam and the party's Chief Ministerial candidate, has been campaigning in southern districts of the state in his drive to strengthen the party's base in these districts. During his campaign, Kamal Haasan has hinted at the possibilities of a major alliance in the assembly polls.
Kamal Haasan was addressing the reporters in Tirunelveli district on Wednesday during which he asserted that a third front is a definite possibility for the assembly poll. The actor pressed that he was ready and open to working with Rajinikanth for the election and he stated that they both will later discuss and decide on who would be the chief minister candidate for the third front. Responding to a question on the possibilities of joining DMK, Kamal Haasan said that it was too early to discuss it.
When speaking about the possibilities of joining hands with Rajinikanth, who has proposed spiritual politics, Kamal Haasan said that he had nothing against people following their faiths. According to reports, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are surfaced with the speculations that they have been brought into politics as part of BJP's plan to split the votes. However, speaking about such speculations, Kamal Haasan said neither he nor Rajinikanth would be directed and pushed by someone.
By citing that he was the one who decided to act in the movies, Kamal Haasan further stated that nobody can make him do anything. He further said that his party wants to provide a government like never before in the state and he added that Makkal Needhi Maiam's goal is to make Tamil Nadu a trillion-dollar economy and it would be achieved through honesty and transparency. He went on to assert that he will not join hands with lazy people, who receive their salaries without working and he said that seven and a half crore people are being cheated by 234 people in the legislative assembly.
As the entry of both the legendary actors with a larger fan base has strongly been expected to push the decades-old parties to reframe and restructure their parties to ensure that they won't collapse their vote banks. The actors have been on the campaign trials amid the strong objections from the state political leaders. However, some of the political parties are mulling to ally with the actors with reports stirring the speculations of the possible alliance of Rajinikanth-Kamal Haasan- PMK. It's indisputable that both the actors are celebrated on the big screens but the voters will soon answer on how they are celebrated on the ballots.
