Hours after sending shockwaves to the DMK leadership over switching the side and joining the BJP, dissented DMK MLA Ku Ka Selvam has twisted the tale after claiming that he is not joining the BJP and said that he has come to Delhi to submit his petition to the Central minister.
Earlier on Tuesday, the reports stated that Selvam will be joining DMK's rival BJP in the presence of BJP National President JP Nadda. While the development has stirred the intra-party furor in the DMK, party's president MK Stalin and senior leaders of the party convened an immediate meet at the party's headquarters concerning the matter, which further drawn attention from the political grounds.
The reports close to the development said that dissented leader Ku Ka Selvam, who is one of the important leaders in Chennai and representing Thousand Lights constituency in the state assembly, would be joining in BJP at around 4.30 pm on Tuesday in Delhi. As expected, Selvam had met with JP Nadda at his residence and the DMK leader was also accompanied by Tamil Nadu BJP President Murugan.
However, after the meet, Selvam addressed the reporters during which he twisted the tale. He denied the reports that he is joining the BJP and claimed that he came to meet Union Minister Piyush Goyal regarding his petition for his constituency. He further urged DMK President MK Stalin to voice against the responsible who demeaned Lord Murugan. He went on to say that Stalin must revoke the alliance with the Congress and Rahul Gandhi who are blocking Modi's people welfare governance at the Center.
Selvam thanked Prime Minister Modi for participating in the groundbreaking ceremony of Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5. He further appealed to the Prime Minister to enhance Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu like Ayodhya. While responding to the question on the party's action against him for meeting the BJP leaders, Selvam vowed that the party can take action against him if it's possible.
In what has become a sudden development, DMK's leader Selvam further asked party's president MK Stalin to conduct the party's local body elections legitimately. According to the reports, Selvam was in dissent against the party for not awarding him the post of secretary of Chennai's West party district, which was earlier held by J Anbalagan, who died of COVID-19 viral infection on June 10. However, the party has awarded the post to Chitrarasu, who is the member of DMK Youth Wing and close to Stalin's son Udayanidhi Stalin.
Following that, Ku Ka Selvam was reported to have dissented over the appointment of the post that he hoped for and it was speculated that he will be joining the saffron camp. Earlier, DMK's Deputy General Secretary VP Duraisamy has dissented from the party and officially joined BJP in May, and Duraisamy was then appointed as Tamil Nadu BJP's Deputy President.
