Udhayanidhi Stalin has been stormed with greetings and wishes from across Tamil Nadu and from people of all ages as he has finally become a Tamil Nadu Minister. Udhayanidhi Stalin has sworn-in as a Tamil Nadu Minister in a closely-watched ceremony that held on Wednesday - December 14 at Raj Bhavan, Chennai.
Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has administered the oath of office to Udhayanidhi and ceremony was held for about ten minutes at Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan. Udhayanidhi Stalin has become the minister in his first term as an MLA and he joins as the 35th minister in the state cabinet led by his father and Chief Minister MK Stalin.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by MK Stalin, Chief Secretary Irai Anbu, state ministers, senior dignitaries, and Udhayanidhi's family members. Over hundreds of people were present and cheered for Udhayanidhi when he took oath at around 9.30 am. When he read the oath as 'I, Udhayanidhi Stalin', the crowd cheered for him and after swearing-in, Udhayanidhi exchanged greetings with Governor RN Ravi.
After becoming a minister, Udhayanidhi addressed the mediapersons during which he said that he would respond to the criticism from opposition over the dynasty politics through his work. He said that such criticism was there when MK Stalin became the Chief Minister and even when he became the DMK's youth-wing secretary and the party's MLA.
As Udhayanidhi Stalin has become the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi affirmed that he will work to fulfill the promise of developing Tamil Nadu as a sports capital and said, "As DMK promised in its election manifesto, I will work towards constructing a stadium in every constituency." "I will definitely discharge my duties as the minister with my best abilities and I thank those who have extended their wishes", the new minister added.
Earlier on Wednesday, before swearing-in as a minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin met his father MK Stalin and mother Durga Stalin at their residence and sought blessings. Taking to Twitter, he shared a picture and thanked MK Stalin for inducting him to the 'Dravidian model' cabinet and said that he will consider the ministerial elevation not as a post but as a responsibility. As Udhayanidhi Stalin has become a minister after episodes of debates and demands, several DMK leaders and cadres across the state have been celebrating his elevation by distributing sweets and by bursting crackers.
