'I, Udhayanidhi Stalin...': Finally, Udhayanidhi swears-in as a Tamil Nadu Minister!

Finally, DMK MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin has sworn-in as a Tamil Nadu Minister in a closely-watched ceremony that held on Wednesday - December 14 at Raj Bhavan, Chennai. Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has administered the oath of office to Udhayanidhi and ceremony was held for about ten minutes at Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan. 

Udhayanidhi Stalin has become the minister in his first term as an MLA and he joins as the 35th minister in the state cabinet led by his father and Chief Minister MK Stalin. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by MK Stalin, Chief Secretary Irai Anbu, state ministers, senior dignitaries, and Udhayanidhi's family members. Over hundreds of people were present and cheered for Udhayanidhi when he took oath at around 9.30 am. 

When he read the oath as 'I, Udhayanidhi Stalin', the crowd cheered for him and after swearing-in, Udhayanidhi exchanged greetings with Governor RN Ravi. As the cabinet has welcomed a new minister, Governor Ravi and Chief Minister MK Stalin took a group photo with the council of ministers after the ceremony. 

Udhayanidhi said that he would consider his ministerial elevation as a responsibility and after swearing-in, Udhayanidhi has planned to visit the memorial of late DMK president and his grandfather M Karunanidhi to seek blessings before going to the Chief Secretariat to officially take charge. It has been reported that Udhayanidhi will be given a big task of handling the portfolios of Special Implementation Programme and Youth Welfare and Sports Development. 

As Udhayanidhi Stalin has become a minister after episodes of debates and demands, several DMK leaders and cadres across the state have been celebrating his elevation by distributing sweets and by bursting crackers. It is pertinent to note that Udhayanidhi was elected to the assembly from the Chepauk-Triplicane constituency at a huge margin and he is also serving as DMK's Youth wing secretary.
