'I, Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin'...MK Stalin swears in as MLA of Kolathur for the third consecutive time!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has on Tuesday sworn in as the MLA for the third consecutive time from the Kolathur constituency. Stalin has formed a new government in Tamil Nadu last Friday after securing a landslide victory in the state assembly polls. The first session of the current assembly had commenced on Tuesday at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai.

The first session would be the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected MLAs and the interim speaker will be administering the oath for every legislator. DMK's Pitchadi has recently sworn in as the interim speaker and he has administered the oath to the newly-elected legislators. Chief Minister MK Stalin had firstly sworn in as the MLA from the Kolathur constituency for the third consecutive time.

Reminiscing his Chief Ministerial oath, MK Stalin had sworn in by saying, "I, Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin". Following MK Stalin, his cabinet ministers including Durai Murugan, Ponmudi, KN Nehru, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, and Ma Subramanian had taken oath as the MLAs for their respective constituencies. They had handed over the victory declaration certificate from the Election Commission to the secretary of the house during taking the oath.

As Stalin has taken the oath as the MLA being the Chief Minister for the first time, his rival ADMK had entered the assembly as the opposition party. Stalin's predecessor Edappadi Palaniswami has taken the oath as the MLA from the Edappadi Palaniswami so does Panneerselvam from the Bodinayakkanur constituency. On Monday, after the episodes of furors in the ADMK, the party has elected Edappadi Palaniswami as the Opposition leader of the assembly.

While Palaniswami won the race for the post, Panneerselvam had refused to take over as the Deputy Opposition leader to show his dissent for electing Palaniswami to lead the party in the assembly for the next five years. The DMK alliance had entered the assembly with 159 seats, of these 133 are from DMK, and the ADMK alliance had got 75 seats, of these 66 are from the ADMK.

After the swearing-in of the MLAs of the top two parties, the newly-elected legislators of the allied parties including Congress and BJP had taken the oath. BJP, which contested in the ADMK alliance, had entered the Tamil Nadu assembly for the first time in 20 years and the Central ruling party had elected Nainar Nagendran, the party's MLA from the Tirunelveli constituency, as its leader in the assembly.
