Kangana Ranaut is back with a bang in Tamil cinema with Chandramukhi 2, the sequel to the blockbuster horror-comedy starring Rajinikanth. The actress, who has won four National Awards, will be playing the titular role of Chandramukhi, a courtesan who was killed by a king and whose spirit haunts a mansion.

Fans and film enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to as the sequel to the cult classic film is released. There is anticipation surrounding Jyothika's portrayal of Chandramukhi and whether it will do justice to the original role.But Kangana is quick to clarify that she is not reprising Jyothika’s role from the first part, who was possessed by Chandramukhi’s ghost.

Instead, she is portraying the original character of Chandramukhi, who has a rich and colourful personality. She said, “I am happy to play the authentic Chandramukhi character and not interpret any other role. I have done a lot of research on her and I have tried to bring out her essence in my performance.”

The sequel will feature Lakshmi Menon as the woman possessed by Chandramukhi's spirit, with Srushti Dange portraying her sister. Kangana also expressed her admiration for Jyothika, who won a lot of praise for her role in the first part.

She said, "Kangana Ranaut revealed that there is a difference between the different iterations of Chandramukhi that have been enacted so far and hers in the upcoming film. “I am a fan of Jyotika ma’am’s Chandramukhi myself. However, unlike before, I am playing the real Chandramukhi in this film. I am not the one who gets possessed by Chandramukhi. That’s the difference. My character will reveal why she became a ghost in the first place,"

She also added,  “This is my third film in Tamil after Dham Dhoom and Thalaivii. I am happy all three have been good. Especially, Chandramukhi 2 because I haven’t done such a colourful film with elements like drama, fights, and songs. It is also a high point in my career to work with Raghava Lawrence sir, who made me so comfortable on the sets,” 

Chandramukhi 2 is a film that promises to be a treat for the fans of horror-comedy genre. The film has a star-studded cast that includes Vadivelu, Radhika Sarathkumar, and Mahima Nambiar. The film also has a captivating soundtrack composed by MM.Keeravani, who has given some memorable tunes for the film.

Chandramukhi 2 is slated to release on 28th September and it is expected to create a huge buzz at the box office. The film is a remake of the Kannada film Apthamitra, which was also directed by P. Vasu. The film is produced by Sun Pictures and distributed by Lyca Productions.
