In a shocking development, a passenger had announced that he had tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection minutes before the scheduled take-off of the Delhi-Pune bound IndiGo flight on Friday, stunning other passengers and leaving the cabin crew to abort the take-off and disinfect the flight.
According to reports, a passenger boarded the IndiGo flight 6E-286 in Delhi for Pune and the aircraft had left the bay and was getting taxied to the runway for take-off. However, minutes before the take-off, he told the cabin crew that he has tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection and showed them his test reports to prove that he is COVID positive.
The cabin crew members had immediately informed the pilot following which the take-off was aborted. The pilot informed the ground controllers about the situation and got back to the parking bay. After parking, the pilot announced that the passengers seated on rows 6 to 8 should get down first as the passenger who was COVID positive was seated there.
The passengers from these rows were asked to wait in a coach for containment and the seats were thoroughly disinfected and their seat covers were changed before readying the flight for take-off. The COVID-19 positive passenger was sent to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital's COVID facility for further treatments through an ambulance.
The rest of the passengers were given PPE gowns to wear for the entire flight time. After the disinfection drive, the passengers were allowed to board the aircraft and they were provided with beverages and water and hours after witnessing the shocking development, the flight had then taken-off to Pune.
