Hyderabad rape and murder suspect found dead after 'Encounter' threat!

The suspect of rape and murder of a minor girl in Hyderabad was found dead on the railway track on Thursday, two days after an 'Encounter' threat. The suspect was accused of raping a six-year-old girl, which had stirred outrage across the state as protests had held to nab the culprit. It has been reported that he was at large after raping and murdering the girl at his residence in Saidabad.

The incident had happened last week and as soon as the girl's body was found, the suspect went missing and the police had been searching for him for seven days. According to reports, the girl was a neighbour of the suspect and he had abducted her, raped and murdered her at his residence. The police had intensified the search as the outrage had grown against the incident.

Two days back, Telangana Labour Minister Malla Reddy had reportedly said that the accused will be killed n an encounter after his arrest. Reddy said, "We will catch the rapist and there will be an encounter after he is caught." However, on Thursday, the suspect was found dead on the railway track, two days after the minister had issued an Encounter threat. The body was found on a track in Telangana's Jangaon district and Telangana Director General of Police M Mahendar Reddy had confirmed the death of the accused.

Taking to Twitter, Mahendar Reddy said, "The accused of Child Sexual Molestation and murder at Singareni Colony found dead on the railway track, in the limits of Ghanpur police station. Declared after the verification of identification marks on the deceased body." According to the police, the body with head injuries was found on the track and the police had reached the spot at around 9.45 am after some locals had noticed the body on the track and informed the officials.

The police had said that 30-year-old Raju, who was the accused, must have committed suicide by jumping before a running train. A Deputy Superintendent of Police has said, "We confirm that the deceased was the wanted person, based on the tattoo on his body." The eyewitnesses had claimed that the suspect was hiding in bushes along the railway track. While speaking to the media, railway lineman Kumar has said that he first had seen a man moving suspiciously near the track and he resembled the missing rape and murder suspect. When he asked the man, he had given evasive answers.

As the suspect kept moving, Kumar had informed his colleague about the suspect and later, both the linemen had started to walk on the track and they also had alerted some locals about the presence of the suspect and when the suspect had walked on the track, the locals had alerted him that the train was coming. However, he ignored the alert and jumped before the moving train and committed suicide.

The six-year-old girl went missing from her home in Singareni colony in Hyderabad on September 9 and her body was found in the house of the neighbour on the same day and it was wrapped in a bedsheet. The post-mortem report has confirmed that she was sexually assaulted and strangled. As the suspect was at large, the Telangana police had been looking for him for a week and had even offered a Rs 10 lakh reward for information about the suspect.

The Hyderabad city police had released pictures of the suspect and alerted the public about his possible camouflaged looks to avoid his real identity. Days after the incident, the suspect Raju was found dead on Thursday. Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration KT Rama Rao took to Twitter and wrote, "Just been informed by Telangana DGP Garu that the beast who raped the child has been traced & found dead on a railway track at station Ghanpur." On the other hand, Telangana Home Minister Mahamood Ali and Child Development Minister Satyavathi Rathod had visited the family of the six-year-old girl on Thursday morning and handed over an exgratia of Rs 20 lakh.
