How TN district of Erode became COVID-19 free from being one of the epicenters?

By this time during early April, Erode district has been marked as one of the epicenters in the state for the spread of Coronavirus as it has been reporting surging cases in its territory leaving the district to impose tight restrictions within its borders before any other district could to contain the spread. 

Erode was one of the early districts that reported positive cases after Chennai. Within a month, the district has successfully managed and fought back against the virus, thanks to the restrictions that aided the fight through which Erode has now become COVID-19 free district in the state, setting the model for its companions on combating the virus.

The district has attained the name of COVID-19 free district after the last batch of four COVID-19 patients, who were undergoing treatment at IRT Perundurai government hospital, got discharged on Tuesday through which the district has achieved 100% recovery, the second in state of Tamil Nadu to achieve the feat after Nilgiris.

The hilly district of Nilgiris was the first district in Tamil Nadu to report the recovery of all COVID-19 patients when the last of nine people got recovered and discharged on Monday. According to the reports, Erode district collector Kathiravan said that the district would move into the orange zone from the red one as the district recorded 100% recovery. According to the collector, the district has reported no positive case for the past 14 consecutive days.

How they flattened the curve? The district officials said that the district machinery acted quickly in tracing the contacts and implementing the containment and preventive measures in its territory to curb the spread. The district collector said that the Thailand nationals, who arrived in the state and tested positive in the early stages of the outbreak in the state, had kept under quarantine on March 16, immediately after arrived in the district. 

The district authorities had traced and quarantined about 694 people, who came in direct contact with the Thai nationals, had kept under quarantine to arrest the further spread, and ensured that the restrictions are effectively followed, whereas Nilgiris district is set to become the first district in the state to mark with green zone if it hasn't reported any fresh cases.

The Nilgiris has reported nine cases so far and the last case was reported on April 10 through which it can be learned that the hilly district hasn't reported any case for the past 18 days and the last patient, a 19-year-old, boy native of Ooty had recovered and discharged from Coimbatore ESI hospital on Monday. However, the district administration asserted that the four containment zones in the district will remain sealed until the completion of the 28th day.

The reports stated that district officials of both the districts took a relief as their districts have flattened the curve of the COVID-19 affected cases. Erode district has reported 70 cases so far of which one had succumbed to the virus while the rest 69 including Thai nationals have recovered. Erode has been keeping vigil on the district borders as the people from other districts won't be permitted unless in the case of emergency. As of Wednesday, the state has reported 2,058 positive cases of which 902 are active patients, 1,128 have been discharged while 25, had succumbed to the virus. Krishnagiri is the only district that reported no case so far.
