How rumors destined hundreds of Indians to become homeless?

The state government of Karnataka had reportedly carried out the eviction drive of demolishing and annihilating more than hundreds of homes and displaced the Indian nationals who were residing in the settlement not because they possessed a threat or violated the rules but because of the rumor that was clouded by stating that they are illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

The Bengaluru city corporation, with the security cover from the city's police department, had drilled down the homes located in Kariyammana Agrahara, which rests in Bellandur's vicinity. These homes have been housing Indians from different states and collapsing their residents and displacing their families with no legal notice had spurred the uncertainty and showcased how the government would construct its mechanisms towards dealing with immigrants from neighboring countries.

With justifying the eviction drive, the police department had stated that they had demolished the sheds and makeshift homes with accord to the videos aired on Social media that illegal Bangladeshis have been settling in the area and in line with that, ruling BJP MLA of the concerned constituency Arvind Limbavali had tweeted that these illegal Bangladesh people have settled here and he stated that they have been carrying out many illegal activities, polluting the environment, and spoiling the cleanliness.

By labeling the Indian nationals as illegal immigrants, the BJP MLA has said that the government officials are initiating action against the settlement. Some of the residents facing the drive have revealed that the authorities neither provided the prior information nor possessed a legal notice to evacuate them and cited that they are Indians and they have proper documents and the authorities belittled their concerns and carried out the eviction process. The residents alleged that they belong to Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and North Karnataka and denied that the settlement didn't house such illegal Bangladesh immigrants.

The reports say that on January 11th, the landlord was issued with the notice by the Marathahalli police station inspector to demolish the sheds by vacating the residents and the corporation authorities camped the process despite the landlord asserted them that the residents are Indians.

After the fierce condemnations from the activists, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which is the city's corporation, had called the eviction unauthorized and stated that it has suspended the concerned authority for directing to carry out an unauthorized eviction drive that happened on private land. On Wednesday, the Karnataka High Court, after hearing the petition tabled by People's Union for Civil Liberties, had ordered the corporation and the city's police department to constrain from evicting the people living in the settlement.
