'How it can be done?': VK Sasikala opens up for the first time about the ADMK meeting as she supports OPS!

Coming in to support O Panneerselvam (OPS) after he was expelled from ADMK in the party's General Council meeting that was held in Chennai on Monday- July 11, VK Sasikala, who was also an expelled General Secretary, has opened up for the first time about the meeting and slammed Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) for crafting his political elevation illegally. 

VK Sasikala, who was the close aide of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and ADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa, asked how the ousting of OPS can be done when EPS's elevation as the party's interim General Secretary itself is illegal. Speaking to the reporters on Monday in Pudukottai, Sasikala has said that those who have come in the way of former Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa wouldn't make the changes that were made today.  

Sasikala said, "The changes (at the meeting) were done with selfish interest. This general council won't stand according to law. My case is pending before the High Court regarding my position as general secretary and the General Council can't be conducted when a case is pending in court." She further said that while the appointment of EPS as the General Secretary remains a question, how his action of expelling OPS from the party will stand legal. 

By citing that the cadres will decide the fate of these people- EPS and OPS, VK Sasikala said, "This is a people's movement. MGR started the party because a similar situation had erupted. Taking into account the scenario and being specific that people had the mandate, MGR had started this party." She stated that this was not the ADMK the cadres wanted and added that the people who voted for ADMK aren't happy about what has happened today. 

Sasikala said, "The party should run according to the wishes of the cadres. MGR had led the cadres to decide and their decision is final." "From the time I have come from Bengaluru, I have been asserting that I will unite the party. Those who have spoken ill about me, if they want to join with me now, I'll accept and I will bring back the ADMK that Jayalalithaa said is for the people and by the people." In line with EPS and OPS, Sasikala went on to claim that she has the support of 1.5 crore party workers. 

She further said, "MGR started a separate party because of the wrong situation in DMK. The same situation should not happen to anyone at the party he started. He created a situation where the general secretary should be elected by the grassroots workers, now they are not working in that way." Reacting to the overhaul and his expulsion, OPS has opposed the resolutions passed by the General Council meeting and said that reviving the post of General Secretary is a betrayal to Jayalalithaa.

OPS further said that the single leadership will be against the decision of the General Council in 2017 and he urged that the party should be led by dual leadership. Besides firing OPS, the EPS camp has also expelled the supporters of OPS - R Vaithilingam, Manoj Pandian, and JCD Prabakar from the party. After removing OPS from the post of the party's Treasurer, EPS has announced that senior leader Dindigul Srinivasan has been appointed as the new Treasurer.
