Here's the BJP's repugnant comment against Periyar and how it got hit back!

While the state of Tamil Nadu has been observing the death anniversary of the social reformer and founder of Dravidar Kazhagam  Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, the Tamil Nadu BJP wing has been nested itself into the dispute after posting an offensive and repugnant comments in its official Twitter handle by demeaning the Dravidian leader. Despite the state unit had deleted the tweet, the party has been queued up with condemnations and accusations from the state opposition parties.

Moments later, the state's BJP IT wing had aired the same remarks that had brought in sharp criticism and the opposition party DMK and the BJP's ally PMK had voiced against the party's remarks following which the IT wing had removed the tweet. The BJP tweet read that 'On this day, which is the death anniversary of Periyar, the father of Maniyammai, let us support the death penalty for child sexual abuse. Let us resolve to create a society without the POCSO offenders.'

Tamil Nadu's opposition leader and DMK President M K Stalin had winged his vehement response to the deleted tweet that was published by the BJP on belittling the social reformer. Stalin questioned the state wing of the national party that before deleting the remarks, it could have thought about posting such remarks and claimed that Periyar has terrified the BJP even after his death and asked whether ruling ADMK party would roar like a tiger or sneak like an earthworm.

In line with the opposition, the BJP's ally PMK ( Pattali Makkal Katchi) had condemned the BJP's stand where the party's founder Dr. Ramadoss said that the BJP had abhorrently tweeted about Periyar in his death anniversary and claimed that it has revealed the jaundiced eyes of the BJP and DMK's MP Kanimozhi has also accused the national party of causing the stir in the state by disgracing the Social reformer and stated that its common to have these comments from the people who don't understand the women rights and the civilization.

In its tweet, the BJP had allegedly referred the marriage of 70-year-old Periyar with 32-year-old Maniammai in 1949. Periyar married Maniammai with the view of naming her as his legal heir and following his death in 1973, Maniammai took over as the chief of Dravidar Kazhagam and it was their marriage that had cracked down the party after which C N Annadurai had founded DMK party.
