Health condition of Former President Pranab Mukherjee: How is he doing now? Latest update

Former President Pranab Mukherjee has been battling the COVID-19 viral infection for the past ten days at the Army Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi. 

On Saturday, the hospital released an update concerning his health condition in which it has said that he continues to remain in a deep state of comatose and his vital parameters are stable. 

He has been getting treated for respiratory infection and continues to be on the ventilator support. He is getting monitored by a team of doctors around the clock. The development has come days after he was reported with a lung infection and a decline in his health. 

On August 10, the former President said he had tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection. He was admitted to the Army Research and Referal Hospital and on the same day, he underwent an emergency life-saving surgery to remove a clot from his brain. Though the surgery was successful, he had developed complications. 

Initially, he was put under ventilator support following which he went into a deep state of coma and still he has been at comatose, and later he developed lung infection earlier this week and the hospital on Saturday said that his condition remains unchanged and continues to be on ventilator support. 

Pranab Mukherjee was the 13th President of India from 2012 to 2017  and he is the immediate predecessor of incumbent Ram Nath Kovind. The 84-year-old former commander-in-chief has been conferred with Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honor. He also held powerful ministries in the UPA regime before getting elected to serve the nation's highest office.
