How dare you? - this was the question thrown on the world stage by 16 year old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. In fact, this ain't be posed as just a question that would be answered by one word, rather this is the mixture of emotions, anger, anxiety and to be precise, the voice of our younger and future generations that she carried with her to the UN climate action summit in New York.
Greta Thunberg, was a Swedish student this time last year and in one year she has been one of the young and fierce environmental and climate change activists from which we can picture how she would be impacted on the world's reactions towards combating the unprecedented climate change that had unleashed the dangerous possibilities of driving the upcoming generations towards extinction.
Her speech was indeed the voice and warnings of millions of younger generations to the World appealing the countries to immediately act on. While addressing the climate action summit, she smashed the pictures of inaction by the world community where she told that she shouldn't be there but rather she should be back in her school and quaked the international stage with her fierce voice and accusations. She was loud while accusing the world for stealing her childhood and her dreams with the empty words and slashed the countries for talking about the money and stories of economic growth while the younger generations are living in the beginning of a mass extinction.
Speaking alongside the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, she had expressed the pain and fear of hope that has been prevailing among young generations where she slapped the international community for failing the next generations and stated that the young people have started to understand the betrayals and further accused that if the world continue to fail, the young generations will never forgive the world.
She has been one of strong young voices that could have quaked the world stage for its continuous failure on acting towards efficient climate deal where she had shown and reminded the power of one voice - one young voice.
It was August 2018, while she was 15 year old school student, she hosted a demonstration outside the Swedish Parliament for calling the World for stronger climate action and with her vision for next generations, her peers in the school had organized similar scale of protests in their own communities which was shaped as a school climate strike movement that was branded as 'Fridays for Future' and after addressing the United Nations Climate change conference in 2018, her message had seen widespread reach around the world and the students at her age had organized demonstrations every week somewhere in the world.
Her address would certainly brought in the shock waves and embarrassments for the international community that had just stayed with a voice and just organizing the summits and its obvious that the failures and inaction on previous episodes would have shaped her to voice high above the sky with huge acrimony and enmity that had eventually revealed the real pain and real voice of the younger generations that were collectively carried by her as the representative and as an ambassador of saving the next generations from the hands of extinction.
How dare you? - Its an alarming tone beyond just naming it as a question that was levied on each and everyone of us as we are the part of the international community and we should hold responsibility to reserve the world, the livable world for future generations.
