From Governor to DMK - Here's the list of people who contributed to CM relief fund!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has installed the Chief Minister Public Relief Fund with the view of receiving contributions and donations from the people to enhance the relief measures to fight the spread of the Coronavirus in the state and since he announced the channel to contribute to the government on last Friday, the relief fund has been banked with crores of contributions that have been made by the people including the state Governor and the state opposition leader.

On Monday, The Raj Bhavan, which is the official residence of State Governor Banwarilal Purohit, issued the statement in which it has said that the governor has contributed Rs 1 crore to the CM Relief Fund from Governor's Discretionary Grant and he has also donated Rs 1 crore separately to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund and along with that, he has awarded his one month's salary to Center and the state relief funds.

In line with the Governor, State opposition leader and DMK President MK Stalin tweeted that the party has released Rs 1 crore as its contribution from its trust to the CM Relief Fund. Senior DMK leader and Lok Sabha MP from Tuticorin Kanimozhi has donated Rs 1 crore from Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) Fund and along with them, expelled DMK leader MK Alagiri has awarded Rs 10 lakh as his contribution to the CMK Relief Fund.

 

Former Chief Justice of India and Former Governor of Kerala P Sathasivam is one of the notable people to grant donation to the relief fund. Former CJI has donated Rs 1 lakh to the fund on March 30. Sathasivam belongs to Erode district in Tamil Nadu and adding to that, Erode based company Sakthi Masala has donated Rs 5 crore to the relief fund.

Some of the private establishments like GRT Jewellers had donated Rs 50 lakh, Asian Paints, and Simpsons have contributed Rs 2 crore each, DLF Foundation has made Rs 50 lakh, Madras Talkies has donated Rs 10 lakh for the relief fund. On March 31st, TVS Motor company has said that it would donate Rs 5 crore through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as its stimulus to the state government.

The Motor Company has also provided a cannon vehicle to the Greater Chennai Corporation to disinfect the areas including roads, buildings, and streets of the city. IT giant HCL Technologies has announced that the company would be providing 500 ventilators worth of Rs 37.5 crore to the government to contain the spread of the Coronavirus. Kanchi Kamakoti Math has come forward and donated Rs 10 lakh for the CM Relief fund. According to PTI, the CM Relief fund has received the contribution of Rs 36.34 crore so far and these contributions would be entitled to a 100% exemption from the Income Tax Department under section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
