While the Tamil Nadu government has poured relaxations and permitted resumptions of various services that were remain shut for the past two months, it also has put out the containment strategies to ensure that the relaxations won't get loosened amid fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of that, the Tamil Nadu government has mandated people that they must carry their Aadhaar cards while they are going to salon shops, parlors, and spas across the state and instructed the salon shop-keepers to register the details of the customers including their name, residential address, contact details, and Aadhaar card number. 

According to the reports, the order of producing Aadhaar card at the salon shops has been issued by the government with the view of identifying the details of the customers on where they belong to and to trace them if in case they turned out to be the carrier for the virus or they have shown positive symptoms for the infections or to locate them if one of their co-customers had affected by the virus.

Through the fresh order, the salon shops will be taking the details of the customers from the Aadhaar card before offering them a hair cut and these details would aid the government to trace the infected customers or carriers at the early stage and isolate them to contain the further spread.

The order from the government has come when the salon shops have resumed the operations across the state, apart from the containment zones, from Monday. These shops remain shut for more than two months in the wake of the lockdown and the resumption is one of the relaxations given by the government amid the fifth phase of the lockdown. The salon shops are advised to adhere to the guidelines and the customers and shop keepers must wear masks and the shops must get disinfected at least twice in a day.

They have also been asked to operate without AC. The fresh order of producing Aadhaar card to the salon shops could have come in the sequel of previous incidents where some of the hairdressers in Chennai tested positive for the virus earlier leaving the authorities with a big challenge to trace all of their contacts across the city.
