Former ADMK Minister C Vijayabaskar has come under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate as he has been questioned by the Central government agency in connection to the cheating case that was filed against him. C Vijayabaskar had served as the Tamil Nadu Minister for Health and Family Welfare during the previous ADMK regime led by Edappadi Palaniswami. He has currently been serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly representing the Viralimalai constituency.
Vijayabaskar has on Monday - November 29 appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Kochi, Kerala at around 10 am for investigations. According to reports, R Sharmila, a native of Alappuzha, Kerala, had filed her petition to the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, earlier this month in which she sought adequate protection for her and her family by claiming that she was facing threat from Vijayabaskar.
She said that she had started business in 2019 after returning from abroad and made investments in land and gold. She had then entered into business deals with Vijayabaskar and she had alleged that the former ADMK Minister had cheated her to the tune of Rs 14 crore. She further said that when she asked for her money back, Vijayabaskar had begun issuing threats to her and her family. Sharmila said that the former minister had returned Rs 3 crore in March 2016.
In her petition, Sharmila claimed that her family is under threat and Vijayabaskar should be responsible if anything happens to her family. The reports say that she also had moved a complaint against the former minister to the ED following which the Central agency had issued summon to the former ADMK Minister. Based on that summon, Vijayabaskar has on Monday appeared before the ED's office in Kochi, Kerala at around 10 am and the investigation has been underway for over two hours.
