Free iPhone, helicopter, and a 100-day trip to Moon...Check what else are in the poll promises of this TN candidate!

Whenever elections form into the severe cyclone, the political parties in Tamil Nadu and across the country would unveil their signature poll promises to make sure that the storm won't devastate them. The poll promises are one of the pivotal factors on which the political parties rely to cultivate the votes. Amidst the clash between realistic and unrealistic promises, the political leaders would press the promises in their bid to inject them into the minds of the voters.

Tamil Nadu is just eleven days away from the crucial assembly polls and the political parties have been announcing the poll promises from waiving off the loans to offering more freebies including washing machines, LPG cylinders, and providing funds for housewives every month. While the poll promises from the top parties had stirred debates and race to hunt the votes, the poll promises from an independent candidate had stunned many by raising their eyebrows as he had made the promises with most of them being unrealistic.

Thulam Saravanan has caught major attention from across the state through his poll promises. Saravanan is contesting in the South Madurai constituency independently in the assembly polls and his poll promises were circulated across the constituency and beyond raising questions, these were promises that the people had heard for the first time unlike in any elections. The upcoming poll is the debut election for Saravanan.

His poll promises include a free iPhone for everyone, people will get a three-storey house with a swimming pool, Rs 1 crore for every household for every year, and every household will be provided with a car worth Rs 20 lakh. Saravanan went on to promise that every household will be given a mini helicopter, a robot will be awarded for every household for house works, Rs 10 lakh per month for every physically disabled person, Rs 1 crore for youth who wish to start a business, canals with a boat for every household, a 100-day trip to the moon, a 300-feet artificial iceberg to keep the constituency cool,  space research center and a rocket launchpad will be established in the constituency.

Saravanan will be contesting independently and the Election Commission has awarded him the 'Dustbin' symbol. He has erected posters across the constituency in which he said that his symbol is the symbol of honesty. According to reports, 33-year-old Saravanan had filed the nomination by declaring that he has Rs 10,000 cash in hand and Rs 2,000 at the bank. Ever since he unveiled his poll promise, he has become the talk of the town as he had garnered more attention for what has been spelled as weird and unrealistic poll promises.

However, Saravanan had declined the prospect of gaining popularity through making such poll promises and claimed that he had made these promises to create awareness among the people. Speaking to an English news agency, Saravanan said that he aims to create awareness to the people that they won't get any promises from the political parties after the elections.

He said, "In election time, political parties make many promises to get votes and they don't do anything after that, and I have made these promises to create awareness among the people of Tamil Nadu, especially among the youth". He added that he had chosen the dustbin as his symbol because to remove the garbage of bribery and corruption in the system.

Tamil Nadu has been witnessing five fronts in the race of the reign - the ruling ADMK alliance, the opposition DMK alliance, Kamal Haasan- Sarathkumar - IJK, AMMK- DMDK, and Seeman's Naam Tamilar Katchi, which will be contesting independently. Tamil Nadu will go to the single-phase poll on April 6 and the votes will be counted on May 2, during which the results will be announced.
