Former President Pranab Mukherjee develops lung infection as his health declines!

The health condition of former President Pranab Mukherjee has attained a serious decline on Wednesday and he has been getting treated under the ventilator support, as the former commander-in-chief has been battling COVID-19 viral infection. 

He has been getting treated at the Army Research and Referral (R&R) Hospital in New Delhi for over a week now and his health condition has been attaining aberrant developments. On Wednesday, the treating hospital has released an official statement concerning his health condition in which it has said that there has been a decline in the health of the former President and he has developed a lung infection. 

In the statement, the hospital said, "There has been a decline in the medical condition of Shri Pranab Mukherjee as he has developed features of lung infection. He continues to be on ventilatory support and he is currently being monitored by a group of specialists. 

 

According to the reports, Pranab Mukherjee had tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection on August 10 and he was admitted to the Army's R&R Hospital where he had undergone life-saving surgery to remove a clot in his brain and he has been undergoing treatment in the ventilator support since the surgery and last week, he went to the state of comatose, which declined his battle for survival. 

The hospital said that he has been critical and on Sunday, the doctors attending him said his condition remained unchanged and his vital and clinical parameters were stable. The former president who is currently at his 84 has been getting wishes and prayers from across the nation from the national leaders for his speedy recovery. However, the recent development has added a challenge in his battle against the COVID-19 viral infection.

Former President's son Abhijit Mukherjee took to Twitter on Wednesday and said that the former's vital parameters continue to remain under control and manageable and there have been positive signs of improvement in his health. 

 

Pranab Mukherjee was India's 13th President from 2012 to 2017 and he is the immediate predecessor of incumbent Ram Nath Kovind. Senior Mukherjee had held various portfolios in the UPA regime and he has been conferred with the nation's top civilian awards and recognitions.
