Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has, on Tuesday, said he has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19), two days after his successor BS Yediyurappa confirmed to have contracted to the viral infection.
The former Chief Minister and sitting Opposition leader said that he has been admitted to the hospital based on the advice of the doctors. The 71-year-old Congress leader further requested everyone who came in close contact with him to get tested and quarantine themselves.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah said 'I have been tested positive for #Covid19 & also been admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors as a precaution. I request all those who had come in contact with me to check out for symptoms & to quarantine themselves.'

According to the reports, the former Chief Minister has been getting treated at the Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru, where current Chief Minister Yediyurappa is also getting treated after the latter was tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday. The doctors have said that Yediyurappa has been clinically stable and doing well. On Monday, following her father, one of the daughters of Yediyurappa has also tested positive and admitted to the same hospital.
On Tuesday, Siddaramaiah's son Yathindra Siddaramaiah said that the former Chief Minister had developed a fever on Monday and he was admitted to the hospital on Monday night and he was tested positive for COVID-19 after the antigen test was conducted.
The development has come two days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah tested positive for the viral infection, becoming the first cabinet minister in Modi's cabinet to spell positive for the virus. The Home Minister has been getting treated at Medanta hospital in Gurugram, near Delhi.
