Former ADMK MLA, who staunchly supported OPS, quits the party and joined DMK!

Accusing the ADMK of failing to uphold the Dravidian principles, former MLA Kovai Selvaraj has quit the party and set out a new political journey by joining in the Tamil Nadu ruling DMK in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin. Selvaraj was a staunch supporter of ADMK leader O Panneerselvam (OPS), who is revolting against another top leader Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) over the leadership crisis, which is prevailing in the party for years.

Earlier this year, Palaniswami was elected as the party's interim General Secretary while Panneerselvam has been staging a legal battle against the former's election and against the general body council at the Supreme Court. As both leaders are strengthening their factions, they are claiming the leadership to lead the party in the midst of seeking support from the central BJP leaders.

For the past few months, both EPS and OPS are making appointments and firing leaders to equally display that their command on the party and the cadres. As the hardcore ADMK functionaries are expressing their displeasure over the incessant tussle between EPS and OPS, they are switching sides by criticizing the ADMK's political instability. In line with that, veteran ADMK leader Kovai Selvaraj has exited the party by voicing against the asymmetrical leadership.

Kovai Selvaraj was supporting OPS and was serving as the party's secretary for the north Coimbatore region. Selvaraj was an outspoken critic of EPS and his faction. It has been alleged that recently Selvaraj told his close circles that both EPS and OPS are dividing ADMK for their personal political interests and that he doesn't want to ride with them anymore. In recent days, he made up his mind to leave the ADMK and sources said that he may quit the party anytime.

As predicted, Selvaraj announced that he is quitting ADMK and will join DMK. On Wednesday- December 7, Selvaraj met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and officially joined DMK. Earlier, Selvaraj came down hard on both the ADMK leaders. Speaking to a news agency, Selvaraj said, "I lost my interest to travel with EPS and OPS after the Arumugasamy Commission report on former ADMK supremo Jayalalithaa was released. ADMK has split into four and they neither can unite nor they can be saved."

"EPS and OPS have become slaves for BJP. At this time, Chief Minister MK Stalin is the only leader who is qualified to work for Tamil Nadu and Tamil people", Selvaraj stated, adding that he will join DMK in the presence of MK Stalin. He further said that an event where over five thousand ADMK cadres will join DMK will be held soon.

After joining DMK, Selvaraj said, "Palaniswami (who came to power by touching the feet) doesn't have any right to speak about MK Stalin, who was elected by the people." By appealing to the ADMK cadres to accept and endorse MK Stalin's leadership to have the functioning of a Dravidian rule and tradition, Selvaraj slammed the ADMK for being functioning as a corporate.
